Assemblages
Peter Hoss Artwork2009 through 2011
The artwork of Peter Hoss is about re-creation. His imagery is informed by the world around him, and from this he makes something new. His process is about discovery. He works directly and intuitively, with imagery emerging from vigor-ously drawn lines, often partially erased or whited out and redrawn or collaged. Hoss has a strong interest in surface qualities and touch. His work is made using
a variety of media – charcoal, pastel, gouache, tempera – on a variety of surfaces, onto which, applying historical picture-making standards and using every day
materials, he draws or compiles assemblages.
Following are photographs of 12 pieces from Hoss’ assemblage series, created during 2009 and 2010.
