Letter From Fr. Tim
entrepreneurial genius would have done anything for just a few more years of life.
However, what happened at his death would seem to indicate otherwise. While the moment of his death approached, his family was gathered around his bed. He was heavily sedated because of the pain and couldn’t speak, but he said everything with his eyes as he looked into the faces of each one of his loved ones. Then his eyes fixated beyond them and as his face expressed amazement, he said three times, “Oh, wow!” “Oh, wow!” “Oh, wow!” And falling unconscious, those were his last words.
Christians shouldn’t be surprised at what Steve Jobs experienced. It was St. Paul in his letter to the Corinthians who said, “Eye has not seen, ear has not heard, nor has it even entered into the heart, what God has prepared for those who love Him.” As we struggle to deal with disease, war, violence, global warming and bigotry, it is very obvious that the “new life” that the Lord Jesus is offering us isn’t found in this world. It is the life that Steve Jobs caught a glimpse of while he was dying.
How can we make sure that one day we will experience this wonderous new life? The answer is simple. All you have to do is fall in love with Jesus Christ. Or to phrase that more correctly, all you have to do is to believe that Jesus Christ loves you, and then respond to that love. The problem is that to love Jesus Christ means to put Him at the center of your life, and too many times individuals have something or someone else there – their career or job, money, an addiction, a twisted relationship, etc. But when you put the Lord at the center of your life everything changes and your life’s path is directed toward this wonderous new life. That’s why Jesus can say about Himself, “I am the Way! I am telling you the Truth! I am the Life!”
And how do we know that Jesus was telling the truth about this new life? It is because He rose from the dead on Easter Sunday.
I’ve said it many times, that the Catholic Church doesn’t make any sense if you are not in love with Jesus Christ, and believing in Jesus Christ doesn’t make any sense if He never rose from the dead. But the lives of the Apostles proves that He did and that is why we believe Him when He says, “I am the Resurrection and the Life, and whoever believes in Me will never die!”
Oh, Wow!
New Life!
When Apple co-founder Steve Jobs died of pancreatic cancer nine years ago at the age of 56 his net worth was $7 billion and one would assume that this

Prayer for Spiritual Communion
My Jesus, I believe that You are present
in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above
all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as
You are already there; I unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be
separated from You. Amen
What is spiritual communion? St. Thomas Aquinas described it as “an ardent desire to receive Jesus in the most holy sacrament and lovingly embrace him” at a time or in circumstances when we cannot receive him in sacramental Communion.
A Spiritual Communion can be said at anytime of the day.
Thank You
As we all deal with life’s new challenges, the St. Mary’s St. Vincent DePaul Conference would like to express our sincere appreciation for your continued support of our mission to care for the most needy in our surrounding communities. Just in the last few weeks our Parish St. Vincent DePaul was able to intervene and prevent two families from imminent eviction, and have critical utilities turned back on for a third family client. We also continue to provide, via our food panty, much needed groceries every other Tuesday to numerous families. We suspect that this pandemic situation will only increase the need for this type of assistance in our community. Thank you again for providing the resources that allow our St. Mary’s St. Vincent DePaul to provide this support.
Please contact the parish office if you find yourself in need.

A Prayer to Stem the Scourge of the Pandemic
God our Father, We come to you in our need to ask your protection against the COVID-19 virus that has dis-turbed and even claimed lives.
We pray that you guide the people tasked to find cures for this disease and to stem its transmis-sion. Protect the medical experts that they may minister to the sick with competence and compassion.
We pray for those afflicted. May they be restored to health soon. Protect those who care for them. Grant eternal rest to those who have died.
Give us the grace in this trying time to work for the good of all and to help those in need. We implore you to stop the spread of this virus and to save us from our fears.
Grant all these petitions through our Lord Jesus Christ your Son, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, One God, forever and ever. Amen.
We fly to your protection, oh Holy Mother of God. Do not despise our petition in our necessities, but deliver us from all dangers, oh glorious and Blessed Virgin. Amen.
O Mary, Health of the Sick, pray for us. Saint Joseph, protector of the Holy Church, pray for us. Saint Raphael, the Archangel, pray for us. Saint George the Martyr, pray for us. Saint Roch, pray for us.
Saint Rosalia, pray for us. Saint Sebastian, pray for us. Saint Gregory the Great, pray for us. Saint Charles Borromeo, pray for us. Blessed Francis Seelos, pray for us.
