FM ILT overview 2
PACS SVR-II 18 January 2007
• The PACS FM ILT started with warm short functional tests (SFT Warm) on October 12-18
• Cold tests were executed between October 31 and December 22, based on the test plan (B) that was introduced by U. Klaas in the previous presentation
• Phase I of the PACS FM ILT ended on January 4 with another SFT Warm
FM ILT overview 3
PACS SVR-II 18 January 2007
• Progress was very good! All planned tests were executed (sometimes ahead of schedule), except one test block (photometer set-ups III), which was replaced by further tests of the spectrometer (including red!)
• (Preliminary) analysis reports exist for most of the tests (see below and the following presentations, see also the SVR-II web page), but naturally some test data carry further information that still needs to be extracted.
FM ILT overview 4
PACS SVR-II 18 January 2007
• most of the mechanisms (grating, filter wheels, calibration sources, hetaers, flashers, OGSE mechanisms, xy-stage, etc.) are functional and perform as requested
• the bolometer and spectrometer detectors seem to be in spec (NEP)
• PSFs and spectral resolution seem to be in spec
• autonomous operations (long tests over night) were possible
• the Lens laser setup worked extremely well
• stable DECMEC (but QM)
• data analysis, mostly within PCSS, much more routine-like (and faster) than at CQM ILT
FM ILT overview 5
PACS SVR-II 18 January 2007
• the chopper is non-conformant
• the spectrometer slicer unit is non-conformant
• no DECMEC FM yet
FM ILT overview 6
PACS SVR-II 18 January 2007
• Original Plan was to warm up at the end of Phase I in order to replace the DECMEC QM with the DECMEC FM (see previous talk by U. Klaas)
• However, the chopper non-conformance required a full warm up and opening of the cryostat to inspect and possibly exchange the chopper
• The chopper performance was good enough to continue the planned tests of phase I without information loss
• In order to characterize the spectrometer as much as possible to detect potential major problems before opening the cryostat we decided to expand the spetrometer test program in phase I
• For tests of the red spectrometer we needed to connect the red Ge:Ga array to the blue DECMEC (switching cable connections at 40K).
