Ovivo’sCopa®SAF(SubmergedAeratedFilter) isahighperformancebiologicalfilterforthetreatmentofdomesticandindustrialwastewater.

TheCopaSAFwastewatertreatmentsystemisdesignedtoprovidebiologicaltreatmentforsewageworkswithpopulationequivalentsupto3000.Thesystemcanachieveaneffluentqualityof15mg/lBOD,25mg/lSS,and5mg/lammoniaatthe95thpercentile.

UtilizingdecadesofexperienceinSAFdesign,Ovivohasdevelopedasolutionrobustenoughtohandlefluctuatingflowsandloads,theCopaSAFsystemisideallysuitedtosmallerworkswhereintermittentloadingcanbeaparticularproblem.

Ourunitsaredesignedwithflexibilityinmind:theycanbeinstalledasapermanentsolution,toprovidetemporarytreatmentforemergencies,oraspart ofaplannedworksmaintenanceprogram.

ACopaSAFsystemincludesaSAFtank(s)andawalk-inGRPkiosk,housingairblowersandacontrolpanel.WheremultipleSAFtanksarerequired,aflowsplitboxdividestheflowevenlybetweenparallelunits.

TheCopaSAFtanksandpipeworkaremanufacturedineitherstainlesssteelormildsteel.Tanksarepaintedinahighqualitypolyurethanecoating,extendingthedesignlifeanddramaticallyreducingwholelifecosts.

Nospecialistoperationisrequired.OurbelowgroundSAFallowsdiffuserreplacementwithouttheneedfordrainingtanksorremovingmedia,minimizingmaintenancecosts.

Copa® SAF (Submerged Aerated Filter)

Operation

Aeration SteelCopaSAFtankscompriseanumberoftreatmentcells,arrangedinseries.Eachcellhousesanumberoffinebubblemembranediffusers,mountedbelowrigid,PVCmedia.Thediffusersprovideairtokeepthetreatmentsystemhealthyandtoairscourthemedia,releasingdeadbiomassandeliminatingtheneedforbackwashing.Forbothaboveandbelow groundinstallations,thediffuserscanberemoved formaintenancewithoutremovingthemedia.

Lowmaintenancesidechannelblowerssupplythediffuserswithair.Diaphragmvalvesensurethatonly

thenecessaryamountofairisprovidedforbiologicaltreatmentandcontinuousairscouringofexcessordeadbiomassthatmayaccumulateonthemedia.

EachCopaSAFtankissuppliedwithadutyblower,withacommonstandbyunitforthesystemasawhole.Theblowersarevirtuallymaintenancefree,needingairfilterreplacementjustonceinevery6months.

Theaerationpatternontopofthemediacanbeobservedbyopeningthehatchesonthetopofthetanks.Thereisnoneedfordissolvedairmeasurementorreturnedsludgecontrol.

Above ground designInstallingtheCopa®SAFtankabovegroundreducesinstallationtimeandcivilcosts.Unitsarealsoeasilymovedfortemporaryandsemi-permanentschemes.

Below ground designTheCopa®SAFsystemcanbeinstalledeitherpartiallyorcompletelybelowground,reducingthevisualimpactonsensitiveareas.Diffuserscanberemovedwithoutinterruptingtheflow,andnosludgeremovalisrequired,minimizingoperationandmaintenancecosts.
