Pe tr Včelk a (1983) graduated on Department of Printmaking
and other media at Academy of Fine Art in Bratislava, Slovakia
in 2009.
He is focusing on drawing, painting and illustration. His work
stems from realism, abstraction, f iguration as well as aesthe-
tics and narrative potential of comics as medium. He e xplores
the tension be tween abstraction and f iguration and the outcome
of his work is specif ic personal fold (be tween) of them. He is an
e xtraordinary drawer, whose drawings and especially ske tches
looks very spontaneous, naturaly and are made with great ease.
The te xture of his work is rough which is grounded in his focus
of intuition of the moment and material which he is dealing with.
He is trained as a classial printmaker so he is naturaly working
with black and white. Most of his t ime he doesn‘t need anything
else as white paper and black ink. As very important supplement
of his black and white body of work he is nowadays e xperimen-
ting with painting in according to e xpand potencial of color and
the allure of te xture in his work.
