Our Mission Our Lady of Mount
Carmel Catholic Parish is one family
in Christ.
We: • Love God and neighbor. • Pray in the celebration of the
Sacraments and receive grace. • Serve sacrificially with time,
talent and treasure. • Proclaim the good news of
Salvation. Empowered by the Holy Spirit, and with Mama Mary to help us, we journey in hope to Heaven.
STEWARDS, NOT OWNERS
When my little brother Stephen was two years old, his favorite word was “mine.” He would grab hold of a remote control, a spoon…just about anything, and assert, “Mine!” While such behavior can be amusing in a little child, it is grotesque when exhibited by an adult. This sin of the religious leaders is highlighted by our Gospel parable. The vineyard represents the people of God, and the tenants represent the religious leaders. God entrusted His people to the care of the religious leaders so that they could help the people bear the good fruits of love of God and neighbor. They were stewards and not owners of the vineyard. But the religious leaders looked at God’s people and shouted, “Mine.” And so when God would send prophets to call Israel back to fidelity, the religious leaders persecuted the prophets. Finally, God sends His own Son, and the religious leaders killed him. Everything we possess, we have received from God. We are not absolute owners of what we possess; not our time, talent, money, material things, spiritual gifts, or relationships. We are not absolute owners of our own lives. That is why no one has a right to kill himself. God entrusts us with every good gift and He expects us to make a return to Him from what He has given us. We will have to make an accounting to God of our stewardship. The October 13th Fall Festival and Ministry Fair is an opportunity for you to become a better steward of the time and talent that God has entrusted to you. Discover how your unique gifts can be put into service in the Vineyard of the Lord. May this parish produce a rich harvest for the Lord, and may we all experience the Lord’s delight in knowing that we have been good and faithful stewards.

Please join us in praying The HOLY ROSARY for our nation on OCTOBER 14, 2017 at NOON– 1:00 PM on the CORNER OF CARMEL MOUNTAIN ROAD and STONEY CREEK ROAD 13541. Bring Umbrella/Chair/Sunscreen.
