OUR LADY OF MERCY PARISH MISSION STATEMENT Our Lady of Mercy Parish is a Catholic community that worships God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, celebrating Mass, proclaiming the Gospel Message and uniting in prayer. We strive to welcome all and to educate ourselves and others in the Good News of Jesus Christ. We support one another in times of joy and sadness and attempt to serve each other by reaching out to those in need in our community and beyond. We are imperfect people on a journey. Our goal is that the life of each person leads to the Lord.
LET US PRAY In your love and kindness please pray for the sick of our parish, especially: Joan Hafemeister, Martha Fornatale, Micaela Lopez, Roberto Rodriguez, Kathryn Petrides, and for those intentions listed in the book in the Vestibule. Please also remember the deceased of our parish and their families. Please join with us in praying one OUR FATHER per day for all those who have no one to pray for them. THE SANCTUARY LAMPS IN CHURCH burn this week in memory of: James Quinn, Anthony Moschella, and for Francis Vascimini.
THE SANCTUARY LAMP IN THE CHAPEL is now available for your intentions.
If you would like more information about reserving a Sanctuary Lamp in memory of a loved one or for a Special Intention, please call the rectory office at 201-391-5315.

GOD’S PLAN FOR GIVING – Tithing
Due to publisher’s early transmission request, the collection total for July 1 weekend will be posted in next Sunday’s bulletin.
Tithing is God’s plan to support His Church. Full tithing means 10% of gross income to God. We ask half of this, or 5%, for your Parish church. The other 5% goes to your favorite charities.
STEWARDSHIP REFLECTION
“...As the Lord spoke to me, the spirit entered me and set me on my feet, and I heard the one who was speaking say to me, ‘Son of man, I am sending you....’” EZEKIEL 2:2-3
God asks each of us to do some special work for Him. He gives us the resources we need to do His work. However, do we listen to God when He calls? Do we get up on our feet and use our talent to do the work He asks of us? Remember, God doesn’t call the equipped, he equips the called.
There are consecrated low gluten hosts available at all our Sunday Liturgies. They are made available during the reception of Communion near the ramp.
SHARING GOD’S BLESSINGS — To date we have received $55,032 in pledges. Our Goal is $99,592. Thank you to those parishioners who have already shown their support and generosity.
THE MIRACULOUS MEDAL NOVENA will be recited each Saturday in the Sacred Heart Chapel immediately following the 8:30AM Mass.
THE FAMILY OF GOD meets every Tuesday at 7:30PM in the Chapel to praise God and pray for special intentions.
WELCOME NEW PARISHIONERS

MOTHER’S GROUPS meet day or evening for one hour each week. If interested in joining, please call Cathy Flynn at 201-391-1482.
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, Why would Saint Paul "boast most gladly" of his weak-nesses in our Second Reading today?** In this famous passage he says he is afflicted by a thorn in the flesh; 3 times he asked the Lord to take this from him, but each time the Lord responded only that, “My grace is enough for you.” And St. Paul finally “gets it,” and tells us with joy that now, “I boast most gladly of my weaknesses…. For it is when I am weak that I know I am strong.” How can this be? Paul was a great preacher. He had a skill for this, which brought many to the faith. How easy for him like us to fall into the trap that this work was all being ac-complished under his own steam, to fall into a vanity that my successes are completely about me. Some would say that the thorn in the flesh Paul com-plains of is some physical obstacle, such as a stutter or epilepsy – something that right when Paul was doing the very thing the Lord gave him to do, would get in the way so he could not do it. Paul is saying, Lord, you knocked me off my horse, drew me to conversion, sent me out preaching…. If you’re going to do something now that keeps me from preaching, well, why did you bother with the conversion? But the Lord says, “My grace is enough for you.” That is, if I let you just go on, you would not be able to see or notice that your life, your success, your preaching is all accomplished by My grace, My love for you. And Paul gets it: “I now boast gladly of my weakness … for when I am weak, I know that I am strong.” I accept the weakness, for in it I’m reminded not of what I cannot do, but of the founding love that sustains me, the One who gave me life and cares for me, the One who is at work in me. What is it in your life or mine that we believe we accom-plish under our own power and for which we are proud? Hmmm. Let’s give that a little bit of prayer!
***** On another note, please pray for Judy & Chris Reilly, for me and especially for all those to whom you are providing care and help through our OLM Mission to Haiti July 12-19! God bless you all,
