Osborne Primary School Newsletter 3rd April 2019
Calendar of Events
“Osborne is renowned for its strong community
spirit”. I continually receive this feedback from
both our own school community members and
beyond. Word obviously gets around! It is
heartening to see so many of our parents and
carers, grandparents and friends attend our school
for assemblies and special occasions. Examples of
this community spirit were evident recently for our
Year 1 Grandparents Afternoon last Thursday and
our assemblies over the
past few weeks.
Thank you to our
community for
supporting the students,
showing interest and
being willing to connect
with the school.
Congratulations to our
students from Year 1 on
being so welcoming to
the grandparents who
came along to join in the
games and fun.
I would also like to extend my congratulations to all
our students who received Academic Achievement
Awards for Term 1 at assembly this week. These
students have displayed outstanding effort and
achievement in areas such as literacy, numeracy
and specialist domains. See student names and
photos pages 4 and 5.

This week we say good bye to Charli Crouch who has
been working part time in our office over the past two
years. Charli is taking up an exciting new career in
landscape gardening. We thank Charli for her amazing
work at Osborne. Her smiling face and her excellent skills in administration
will be greatly missed. Best wishes for a successful future Charli !
I would like to take this opportunity to commend all our students on a
terrific Term 1 at Osborne. The term has gone very fast and I am pleased to

The FOS Team
This year in the Performing Arts we are saying good-bye to our amazing piano teacher Karen Oakley. Karen has been with us for the past 10 years and has been an invaluable asset to our Instrumental Program. We are very sad to see Karen go however wish her all the best for her future journey and thank her for everything she has done for our students.
We now welcome Shari from DSE music who is joining our instrumental team as our new piano teacher. Shari has been in contact with current students and students on our waiting list. Parents please make sure you let Shari know if you wish to begin lessons with her next term.
Parents of students wanting to have instrumental lessons can directly email Emma Jones via Compass with their students name, grade, instrumental, parents name, number and email. Instrumental teachers will then make contact with you and will begin lessons if available or put student on a waiting list.
We are also very excited to welcome Kathryn Brandt as our new Performing Arts teacher. Kathryn has a background in dance and is very enthusiastic about creatively teaching our Year 1, 2 and 3 students for the rest of the year.
REMINDER: Mornington Community Music Camp expressions of interest for Senior Band members are now due in. Notes will be accepted up until Thursday this week. Please hand them in with a $50 deposit.
