The Department of Civil Engineering, K.B.T College of Engineering organized a Guest Lecture
on “Demonstration of site design software” on 21st, July, 2017for SE students. The guest
speaker was Mr. Ashish Ranjan Dubey, Academic Relation Manager, Bentley Systems India
Private Limited.
The event started with a welcome address. In his talk he emphasized the importance of different
software and their engineering applications with specific examples in the fields of civil
engineering. He has demonstrated use site design software to the student of SE Civil. The lecture
was received with admiration by the students and they also found the site design software
appropriate. The event ended with honorarium to the guests and vote of thanks.
INDUSTRIAL VISITS
JULY 2017
Staff and Students of Civil Engineering Central Railway Workshop,Manmad
On 28th
July 2017, Civil engineering staff and students of TE visited the Central Engineering
Railway Workshop, Manmad. In Central Railway Workshop work carried out for the design of
5
trusses, girders, rolled steel sections, rails, cutting, drilling, welding, bolting, painting and
finishing etc. From this visit student have understood the manufacturing process for various
sections that are used as structural members such as beams, columns, trusses built up sections,
long span girders, rails and their connections. Methodology of fabrications, Advance methods for
fabrications and erections of various components for the Structural members are also
apprehended by the students practically.
SEPTEMBER 2017
Visit to Koyna Dam
The Koyna Dam is one of the largest dams in Maharashtra, India. It is rubble concrete dam
constructed on Koyna river which rises in Mahabaleshwar, a hill station in Sahyadri ranges. It is
located in Koyna Nagar, Satara district nestled in the Western Ghats on the state highway
between Chiplun and Karad. The department of Civil Engineering, N.D.M.V.P.S.’s K.B.T.
College Of Engineering organized a site visit to the Koyna Dam on 19th
September, 2017 for
Third Year Civil Students. In this visit, Students studied and observed the component parts and
working of Hydroelectric Power Plant and discharge through the spillway. Executive Engineer
Bagade sir of Koyna Dam kindly permitted for the visit of the dam. Mr. Rane sir and his team
guided students during visit and showed us all dam features.

Meteorological Station Visit
Third year Civil students visited Meteorological Station K.T.H.M. College, Nashik. The students
got the opportunity to see different parameters (Anemometer, Automatic recording rain gauge
station-float type, Dry and Wet thermometer, maximum and minimum thermometer, etc.) and
working on this station. 78 students from Third Year Civil Engineering took the benefit of this
visit. The students were guided by Mr. N. U. Rathod and Mr. Ravi Mishra from Geographical
Department K.T.H.M. College, Nashik.
The Big 5 Construct India
SE civil students visited Bombay exhibition centre for “THE BIG 5 CONSTRUCT INDIA”
construction related exhibition. We saw there are many new products related to constructional
techniques and materials. Many eco friendly products were also to be seen there. We also
attended seminar to learn about safety on construction site. We were at the exhibition for about 3-
4hours and learned many new and modern techniques used in construction nowadays. Many
times saving techniques like slip formwork was also at the exhibition, which would help us infast
and easy construction. Companies from all around the world were at the exhibition for displaying
their products. All together it was a great experience visiting the exhibition and we learnt a lot
about the constructional technology used all around the world.

guidance of Dr. K. T. Patil along with Ms. Murkute M. B. and Sonawane K. R., from 08/09/2017
to 12/09/2017. The tour was planned to visit various locations like Dudhganga Dam,
Kalamawadi, Malawan, Sindhudurg Fort, Murud- Janjira Fort and coastal region of
Harihareshwar etc.Our class of B.E. Civil consisting of 65 students and 3 teaching staff were
taken to field visit. The Journey was made by bus for the convenience of field observations. This
visit gave students lots of ideas regarding engineering works and geology. Students also gained
knowledge to analyse the engineering significance of various landforms. So the visit was fruitful.
