Eighty-three members of the Class of 1963 were graduated from James Wilson Young High School Tuesday night. The ceremonies began with the entrance of the members of the senior class into the auditorium. The salute to the flag was led by-John Gilmore. a member of the graduating- class, followed by the singing of "The Star Spangled Banner" by Michael Signorelli, a resident of Bay-port. The Rev. Landon K. Owen of the Bayport Methodist Church gave the invocation.
Joan C. Friedlander, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ger-Jiart Friedlander of Bayport, gave the salutatory address on "Self Discipline." Charles .E. Greaves Jr., presented the valedictory on "Peace." . ,
Norman H. Gray, vice-president of the Board of Education, presented awards to members of the class. Those honored were: Peter Cochrane, who received the Bayport Fire Depart: ment medal for outstanding work in mechanical drawing, and Robert Luongo, the Bayport Fire Department medal for outstanding work in industrial arts; Joan Friedlander, the Smith-Wever American Legion medal as the senior who .excelled in American History; Robert Luongo arid Josette Mondanaro received the Smith-Wever American Legion medals awarded to the senior boy and girl for honor, courage, scholarship, service, leadership and character. M i s s Mondanaro was given the D. A. R. medal for excellence in American History. The Blue Point Fire Department plaques for the outstanding senior girl and boy athlete went to Susan Foster and Vincent Fallica.
The Bayport Pharmacy Chemistry award was given to Charles Greaves. Daniel Perlman received the Major-Theodore Cramp-ton award for outstanding work in mathematics. The Bausch & Lomb Optical Company science award went to Daniel Perlman. Kathleen Brunle won the school Dramatic Club award as the senior with the greatest interest, talent and cooperation in the dramatic arts. The Veterans of Foreign Wars medal for the senior- who excelled in citizenship, scholarship and attendance went to Judith Wachlin. The Howard-Remme Memorial music award was won by Cynthia Culp. The Blue Point Home Bureau award for the senior girl excelling in homemaking went to Sandra Way, and the Bayport Home Bureau Award was won by Judith Hester. The National Honor Society award wa; won by Joan Friedlander.

Winners of Sayville Parent-Teacher Association scholarships are these members of the 1963 graduating class. Miss Nancy Weeks, who has won an unrestricted grant for the first year of college .work, expects to be an elementary school teacher*. The four-year Walter H. Dickes Scholarship for Teacher Training goes, to Martin Dorio Jr., who expects to be a secondary school chemistry teacher. Both young people are residents of Sayville. -
the Josten Publishing Company award for being the scholastic leaders of the class. Board of Education medals^for senior students who maintained a four-year average of 90 per cent or better were presented to Daniel Perlman, Charles Greaves, Joan Friedlander, Noelle Pulis and Josette Mondanaro. The Rotary Club awards for the outstanding senior student in foreign languages and in English went to Daniel Perlman and Karen Au-waerter, respectively. The Pat-chogue Electric Light Company award for the Blue Point student who demonstrated ability to meet varied social situations and to have shown a cooperative spirit in integrating the home economics department with other departments within the school was won by Pearl Connelly.
The Phi Beta Kappa alumni award was presented to Charles Greaves. Charles Greaves and Joan Friedlander received the School Board award. Their names were engraved on the plaque permanently retained in
* the high school. The highest school prizes, the Alumni Loyalty award, went to Josette Mondanaro. She was elected by the student body and faculty as the student most loyal to the James Wilson Young High School. Her name has been inscribed on the parchment hanging in the entrance hall of the high school.
The / Bayport-Sayville Lions Club scholarship of $250 went to William' Burg; the Rotary Club of Sayville S400 scholarship was awarded to Josette Mondanaro. the $300 Bayport Elementary School P. T. A% scholarship- to Susan Foster; the. Bayport Circle Players award of $100 was won by Kathleen Brunle for outsanding talent in the performing arts; the Kiwanis Club of Sayville scholarship of $100 went to Susan Foster, and Arthur Shinn was the recipient of the Patchogue Masonic scholarship of $200. Stephen Mandell, President of the Bayport-Blue-Point Teachers' Association, presented its scholarship to Karen Auwaerter. This four-year scholarship is worth $1,600.
The commencement address was given by County Judge George F. X. McTnerney. Melvin B. Hill, Supervising principal, introduced the members of the class to the Board of Education, and Frederick W. Merdes, president of the board, presented each member of the class with his diploma. The ceremonies were concluded by the Rev. Owen who gave the benediction which was followed by the Recessional.
The high school band, under the direction of George Raynor, played "Pomp and Circumstance" for the processional and "Zacatecas" for the recessional. "Vignette for Band" by ' John Cacavas was given as a feature number.

There were 185 students of Sachem High School Who became graduates last Sunday afternoon at the school's* first outdoor commencement ceremonies. The members of the class were individually presented by Superintendent Walter C. Dunham to Herman W. Beebe, president of the Board of Education, who gave them their diplomas.
Richard A. Berger, Sachem principal, announced the scholarship awards. The Lions Club of the Ronkonkomas had established a new $300 scholarship for a boy and a girl going to Suffolk Cdmmunit'y^College and one half went to Deanna Giar-dina, with the other, $150 to Edward Roszko. The Holtsville-Farmingville Lions Club Scholarship was awarded to Michaelyn Nocerino. The first annual scholarship of Sachem's Future Nurses Club went to Cathleen Longboat. The Paul Fariello Music Memorial Scholarship of $300 had Paul McRae as its recipient.
Three $500 scholarships of the Sachem Central Teachers, for students planning teaching careers, were bestowed on David Hewitt, Grace Santa Lucja, and Patricia Morris, Four $500" scholarships were granted by the Sachem Central Schools Scholarship and Loan Fund to Susan Ciulla, Stanley Lupo, George Starkschall, and. Nancy Terry. The funds for these scholarships were provided by the Holtsville-Farming-ville, Lake Ronkonkoma, No-komls and Sachem High School P. T. A.'s, and the high school General Organization.
The invocation was delivered by the Rev. William K. Roser, pastor of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, and the benediction was given by Rabbi Aaron M. Singer, of Mt. Zion Temple, Philadelphia, a brother of Deborah Singer, a member of the graduating class.
The ushers were junior class members of the National Honor Society: Fred Cruger, Sandra Eberhardt, Vito Giannuzzi. Michael Hambrock, Ray Selmer. Richard Fazio, Barbara Anderson, Barbara Segall, Bett-Jane Yost, Joanne Bedell, Diana Mar-zigliano, Elaine Eriksen, Irene Romagna, Lorraine Owen, and Georgette LaPierre.
Among the graduates, members of the National Honor Society were identified by gold shoulder braids.
