OCTOPUS® 900 – THE MOST VERSATILE FULL 90 DEGREE PROJECTION PERIMETER.The Octopus 900 uses a full-size Goldmann spherical cupola which covers the entire 90 degree visual field area. It is the only perimeter of its kind al-lowing for four methods of perimetry all on one instrument. Whether you need fast screenings, early detection, general thresholding or kinetic testing for neuro- and end-stage pathologies, the Octopus 900 provides astounding flexibility.

ITS VERSATILITY INCLUDES: ■ White/White, SWAP and Flicker Perimetry Methods ■ Both manual and automated Goldmann Kinetic perimetry methods ■ Binocular testing with 180 degree viewing angle ■ Full threshold testing in just over 2 minutes per eye ■ Motorized refractive lens holder offering ergonomic handling

The Octopus 900 is remote controlled by a computer that may even be outside the examination room.

The Octopus 300 saves space and allows operation from all sides with its rotating optical unit.

The motorized lens holder allows for ergonomic and uninterrupted examination flow.

PHYSIOLOGY BASED PROGRAMS On top of common programs like the 32, the G-pattern – a physiology relat-ed test pattern – is an Octopus standard. This examination program offers a higher density of stimuli in the centre which allows for the discovery of para-central scotomas that are missed by the common 32 pattern. The distribu-tion of test locations in our G-pattern follow the nerve fibre bundle layer which permits a better correlation between functional and structural findings.

GOLDMANN KINETIC PERIMETRY (GKP)End stage pathology can be difficult to ascertain using only standard static perimetry. The Octopus 900 can perform true kinetic perimetry in a pro-grammed procedure, combining the advantages of the Goldmann method with computer assisted automation.

FIXATION CONTROLThe unique Octopus fixation control recognizes blinks that interfere with stim-uli presented in static perimetry. Stimuli interrupted by the blinking of the pa-tient are automatically repeated later during the test. If the eye position changes, the examination is automatically paused until the correct fixation of the gaze is regained. The result is a visual field that is always reliable.

There is no compromise when it comes to trust and reliability. Octopus has always provided 100 % fixation control so you don’t have to worry about fixation losses on your printout. Haag-Streit perimeters have the features that al-low your patient to perform well, that help your technician do a good job and guarantee you get the most reliable and meaningful results in the least amount of time.

AUTOMATED EYE TRACKINGAutomated Eye Tracking (AET) recognizes the position of the pupil and keeps the eye centred. The Octopus provides optimum conditions for relia-ble and undelayed results.

HEAD SENSORSThe head sensors offer even further control and reliability by pausing the test if the patient pulls away from the instrument.

NETWORKINGWith EyeSuite™ Perimetry Octopus provides software for an extensive and comprehensive analysis right at your fingertips. EyeSuite Perimetry can be integrated to every EMR system (Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 and 8) in your network. MILESTONES IN VISUAL FIELD EXAMINATIONThe quest to document the functional state of the eye for diagnostic purpos-es found its first instrumental approach with the tangent screen of von Graefe in 1856.In 1872, Scherk introduced the first half sphere perimeter in an attempt to test the whole visual field in a better reproducible manner. In 1945, Hans Goldmann of the University of Berne together with Haag-Streit developed the Goldmann Type 940 perimeter. This instrument with standardized, con-trolled parameters and its ingenious pantograph that at the same time al-lowed controlled projection and documentation is the reference for kinetic perimetry still today.

The original Haag-Streit Goldmann perimeter is the pre decessor of no wadays Octopus instruments.

Join Haag-Streit Octopus, the pioneer in the development of today’s perimetry.

THE HISTORY OF AUTOMATED PERIMETRYIn 1972 Franz Fankhauser et al developed the principles and concepts of automated perimetry, again at the University of Berne.

In 1974, as a result the Octopus 201, the first automated static perimeter was born. Since then, Octopus pioneered with many significant innovations like the G-pattern, the direct projection system, fast strategies and software for visual field analysis.

In 2002, Ulrich Schiefer chose the Octopus 101 to custom design his patent-ed, reaction time compensated kinetic perimetry. As subsequent studies showed, it was the first time Goldmann like kinetic perimetry proved compa-rability of results and superiority in repeatability over the original Goldmann Type 940 perimeter. Building on this experience, the Octopus 900 has been designed to perfectly match the needs for a Goldmann successor and set a new standard in perimetry.

Choosing the right partner OCTOPUS® Technical Specifications

Octopus perimeters feature short test duration, high accuracy and exceptional reliability. Wheel chair accessible electric instrument tables are available.

OCTOPUS® 300 – CENTRAL 30 DEGREES IN A SPACE-SAVINGS PACKAGE. Thepatenteddirectprojectionsystemallowspatientsarelaxedviewintoinfinitedistancewithouttheneedofadedicateddarkroom. It provides 3 methods of perimetry on one instrument: Standard white/white and for early detection SWAP and Flicker.

ITS UNIQUE ERGONOMICS: ■ A comfortable viewing angle in a dimly lighted room ■ Automated eye tracking keeps the head stationary, allowing for

better patient focus ■ Forehead sensors ensure constant eye distance ■ Rotating examination unit allows for a 90, 180 or 270 degree

Comparison„+“ signs indicate normal locations (up to 4dB deviation). Numbers the defect in decibel for larger devia-tions.

Corrected comparisonThe „diffuse defect“ is subtracted from the local defect values to accentuate focal and early loss.

ProbabilitiesPercentile of normality to which a local defect compares. P < 1 means that less than 1% of normals reach the same deviation in this location.

Examination dataReliability information like catch tri-als, pupil size, test duration and parameters.
