The Advanced Energy Center Conference in November 2008 drew 1000 attendees with keynote speakers that
included Paul De Cotis and Ed Reinfurt. The centers expanding state role in smart grid and how to prepare and transform the workforce to meet the emerging
green economy will be discussed.
The triangulation of forces to efficiently use our precious energy resources, the Federal Stimulus allocation of $4.5billion for "Smart Grid" and Governor Paterson's drive to put New York State at the national forefront for Transmission, Electrical Distribution and Smart Grid implementation brings huge opportunities and significant challenges.
The Smart Grid will transform our electrical system
much the way the cell phone has transformed communications.
What exactly is the "Smart Grid" ? How will it change our consumption of energy ? and how will it impact the Quality of power delivery ? What are the jobs and skill sets revolving around this new
technology ? When will we need to fill these positions ?
