Ward Home Angels Ward Home Angels have landed on our Narthax Christmas tree . The Angels
are waiting for church goers to pluck them off the tree, purchase a gift card and
fulfill the holiday wish of a Ward Home participant. Ward Home, a long time
partner of the United Methodist Church Union family, works with at-risk teens
and young adults, providing them with safe, nurturing, home environments.
The counselors use the gift cards from the Angel tree to help teach budgeting
and money management skills to the youth.
The gift cards for the youth are for $25, for various stores in the area. Return your
purchased gift card and the angel to the church office.

Advent and Tableaux Help Needed
Pastor Tom’s Advent/Christmas Sermon Series:
Hope is on the Way
This seven-week series for the beginning of Advent
through Epiphany Sunday is based on the Gospel
readings from Year A of the Revised Common
Lectionary, and emphasizes themes of watchfulness,
looking backwards and forwards in time (at the same time), joyful repentance, trust, and
hope.
Advent is a season of anticipation as we spend a lot of time with prophecy from Christ
and John the Baptist, so when it comes to building up the Christmas theme in hymns and
preaching - pace yourself. Remember, Advent is a season of past and future collision in
the present ... A time of already here (as in Christ did come and is here) and not yet
(Christ will come again). If you focus on Christmas too early, you miss the point of the
season.
December 4th “We Work While We Wait” Matthew 3:1-12
We journey backwards to before Jesus’ baptism, to John the Baptist prophesying the
Messiah’s coming – a Messiah already here. Now is the time to get right with God, to
prepare ourselves for the kingdom that is coming, the kingdom already here.
December 11th “Hope in the King” Matthew 11:2-11
December 18th “A Surprise Adoption” Matthew 1:18-25
December 24th “Hope Has Arrived” Luke 2:1-20
December 25th “We Are Family” Hebrews 2:10-18
January 1st “What Gift Did God Bring” John 1:1-18

From Jeremiah’s Place, to the UMW and
Faith for Today for sharing their story:
We have just passed our 2 1/2 year mark
of being open. Over 400 kids have come in
to Jeremiah’s Place crisis nursery. The
needs of the families range from employment
to child care to medical, but the one need
is clear—a safe place for the child.
Thank you for being a part of this
important work to help children and their
families. We are grateful!
