ELECTROSPINNING EQUIPMENT
Electrical generator :A High Voltage Supply (0-40kv) with a low current output was employed in the current study.
Jet source :2ml glass syringe, needle of different gauge sizes
Metal Collector :copper plate covered with aluminum foil placed at a predetermined distance from the needle tip.
high voltage was discharged by using discharge pen.

ELECTROSPINNIG PROCESS
PRINCIPLE : The process makes use of electrostatic and mechanical force to spin fibers from the tip of the jet source. The solution is usually electrically charged by generator. When the electrostatic repelling force exceeds the surface tension of the polymer solution, the droplet is stretched into a cone ( called taylor cone) and a solution stream is ejected and forms an extremely fine continuous filament………

APPLICATIONS IN DRUG DELIVERY
Venkatesh . Y, III/I B.Pharmacy, Narayana Pharmacy College, Nellore
Recently Nanofibers are used in the healthcare systems, as a tool for drug delivery system in various diseases.
The use of Nanofibers proves the importance and convenience of them as drug carriers.
The smaller size plays an important role in delivering the drug to the appropriate site in the body.
Some properties of Nanofibers which are useful for drug delivery are as follows :
→A large specific surface area→Nanofiber diameter, 1-100nm

Controlled release of the drug at a constant rate over a longer period of time.
Drug release only on the targeted body area.Permeate certain membranes or barriers e.g. BBB

ConclusionElectrospinning is a very simple and versatile method of
creating polymer-based high functional and high performance Nanofibers that can revolutionize the world of structural materials.
The various approaches should be developed for scientific understanding, engineering control and then potential implementation in devices of Electrospun nanofibers.
