Attendance
At North Shore State School our goal is to ensure every
students has the opportunity to be exposed to a year
worth of learning. A key component of this goal is
knowing that Everyday Counts. We encourage all
students to attend every day that they possibly can to
ensure they are exposed to the explicit teaching that
our staff provide. Our whole school attendance target is
95%.
Can I remind all parents and carers that our learning day starts at 8:45am
sharp. Unfortunately we have a number of students who are consistently arriv-
ing 5 or 10 minutes late. Over the long term, those students will be missing out
on a significant amount of key learning time as a result. A reminder that our
school offers student supervision from 8:10am to 8:40am for those parents who
need to drop their children off earlier. All student who arrive after 8:45am are
required to present to the office for a late note. I would like to ask that parents
do not go directly to classrooms to drop off their students after 8:45am. All stu-
dents arriving directly to class after 8:45am will be asked to return to the office
and report for a formal late slip. It is also important that all our school communi-
ty are patient with our administration staff as we often have large numbers of
students and families arriving late to school. Student also arriving late need to
provide our office staff with a reasonable explanation to ensure they are not rec-
orded as unexplained on our system.
I would also like to remind parents that students absences and their reasons
need to be reported to the school as soon as possible. All student absences need to
be confirmed with a reason. Every fortnight our student attendance team meet to
review data and follow up with letters of explanation for student absences that
are unexplained. I encourage all parents and carers to complete the forms and
return them to the office. We will then update our records to ensure that you do
not keep receiving the same letter from our school.
With your support we can continue to work together to provide the opportunities
for students to have the education they deserve.
Red Track
Congratulations to all our students who competed at our Inter- School Athletics
competition on Wednesday. This year we were in the C schools category that had
us competing against much larger schools than us. I have been informed that our
students behaviour and sportsmanship were exemplary.

Woolworths Earn and Learn
This year, North Shore State School have registered to take part in the Woolworths Earn and Learn
campaign. For every $10 you spend at Woolworths between now and the 25th June you will receive 1
sticker. These stickers can be placed in the North Shore State School boxes located at Woolworths
stores in North Shore and Deeragun. We have also placed a box in our school office so children can
bring their stickers into school too. At the end of the campaign these stickers can be redeemed for re-
sources. Ultimately, the more stickers we get the more resources we can claim for our children. So
next time you shop at Woolworths in either of these stores look out for our box and help us get some
exciting new equipment for our school!
In each Learning Village there is one fridge provided per two classrooms, for the storage of student lunches.
Can we please ask that insulated lunch boxes/ eskies are kept in school bags and only plastic containers or small
lunch bags are placed in the fridge.
Thank-you
