A RIF VOCABULARY SCAFFOLD

blossom: a flower that grows on a fruit tree

concentrate: to think about something

gnaw: to bite or chew over and over again

hyper: very excited, has lots of energy, wild

maggots: insects that look like small worms; they come from a fly

pollen: the yellow dust a plant makes

pulp: the soft, inside part of a fruit or vegetable

tropical rainforest: area of land near the equator that has very tall trees, lots of rain, and lots of plants and animals

sap: the liquid inside a plant; can be watery or thick and sticky like syrup

shoot: the part of a new plant that is just beginning to grow above ground
