Analysing Nine Shots From ‘Taken’
By Samuel Steven Neesam
The scene from Taken that we are analysing is a fairly simple scene. The first nine shots are just of the main character (Kim) Moving through the house as the camera changes angle around her.
So nothing Fancy
Taken’s Nine Shots
: This is fairly simple, a camera being held still on a tripod as it angles slightly left as Kim moves.
: This is the same scene, but with a different camera positioned slightly more to the left and not zoomed in. This is a long shot.
First Two Shots
: This third shot is when Kim moves through the door to the left. Again, it is a long-medium shot.
: On this fourth shot, it switches to Bryan sitting at home on his chair, on the phone with Kim.
The Second Two Shots
: On the fifth shot is switches back to a medium close-up of Kim still on the phone running through a corridor.
: On the sixth shot it (Again) switches to Bryan on the phone. This time he is stood up and the shot is a medium close-up.
Shots 5-6
:These two shots need absolutely no explanation what so ever as they are practically identical to the two previous shots.
Shots 7-8
:This shot is almost identical to the previous shot featuring Kim, except that she has just opened a door and went into another room (The bathroom).
