NIDOS Business Objective 1
Improved effectiveness of more Scottish international development organisations
Why a small organisations toolkit?
• International Development Effectiveness and quality standards were largely developed by and for large organisations – e.g. HAP, SPHERE, People in Aid etc
• NIDOS members are mainly small organisations and these standards were not suitable for their needs
• There was a clear demand from members for a simpler tool, for self-assessment
New NIDOS Effectiveness toolkit
• Simpler tool for small organisations• More focus on operational issues, not just
principles• Quick ‘basic check’ stage to start followed by a
more in-depth reviewNew tool is 2 stage: 1. MOT 2. Full Assessment
Stage 1: MOT
Stage 2: Full Assessment
