NEW YEAR NEW YOU!
A fter a holiday season of overeating and indulging, we all find ourselves starting
the New Year off by trying to eat healthier. Healthy eating is not a diet or a fad diet. We all need to make changes in the way we eat. Don’t try to change everything at once. Think small and you can reach your diet goal one step at a time. Any diet change is easier if you take small steps. Healthy eating means eating more:
• Vegetables, fruits, whole grains
• Seafood, lean meats, poultry, eggs, beans, and nuts.
It’s also important to limit:
• Salt, refined sugar
• Saturated fats (cheese, whole milk, but ter, fatty meats)
• Refined grains (cookies, white bread, snacks)
Eating a balanced meal helps improve health, body and mind. It can also help pre-vent heart disease, high blood pressure, and diabetes. So take the step now by making these simple changes.

Book Club Our growing Book Club meets on Monday, January 8 at 11 am to consider David Ebershoff’s The 19th Wife. Inspired by the life of Ann Eliza Young, the novel intertwines a historical narrative with a modern-day murder mystery. Join us for coffee at 10:30. New members are always welcome!

PUZZLE
Try your hand at this challenge submitted by Anita Fenton 4 FILL IN the numbers from 1 to 4 in each row and col-umn. Do not repeat a number in any row or column. The areas of the grid with dark outlines around them are “cages.” At the top left of each cage is a target number and operation. In this example, the cage at the top left says "5+". That means the three numbers that go in that cage must add (+) up to 5.
