appropriatemeasureAsyouknow,wearealwaysassessingandupdatingoursafeguardingprocedurestoensurethatchildrenandadultsinschoolareprotectedfromharm.Oneofthewayswedothisislimitingthenumberofunsupervisedadultsenteringtheschool,particularlyatthebeginningandendoftheschoolday.Pleasecontinuetosupportthisaimbynotenteringtheschoolviatheplaygrounddoors(e.g.intothecorridororthroughtheclassrooms)tousethetoilet,collectlunchboxesorgettingtotheofWice.Thanksforyourongoingsupport.

WelcomebacktoAshmeadfromtheGoverningBoard!IhopethatyouhadagoodChristmasbreak-2020isanexcitingyearforus.Itwillseethecompletionandopeningofourambitiousnewbuild,whichwentupinDecember.ThisWirmlyputsAshmeadonthemap-makingusmorevisibleinthecommunityandprovidingexcellenteducationalfacilitiesforourchildren.WeareeagertoseethebuildinggetWittedoutinthecomingmonths! However,weknowthatitisrelationships,notbuildings,whichfosterthatspark,inspirediscoveryandshapepeople.ThisyearAshmeadarealsotakingadetailedreviewofthecurriculum,toensurethatitstretchesallofourchildren,isrelevantfortheworldtheywillfaceandcontinuestodevelopallaspectsoftheircharacter.Governorsareworkinghardtosupportandchallengetheschoolinthisworkandinalltheworktheschooldoestomakeeverydayagreatexperienceforthechildren.AsgovernorswearealwayspleasedtohearexamplesofthegreatcurriculumAshmeadhastooffer,e.g.bothYearFiveandYearSixperformingMacbethandRomeoandJulietattheAlbanyTheatreaspartoftheShakespeareSchoolsFestival.OtherexcitingworkincludestheongoingOPALproject,themanytripsthatAshmeadissowellknownforandtheREACHhistorymaterialswhichKeyStageTwohavebeentrialling.WealsoheardthattheschoolwasluckyenoughtobeloanedsomehistoricalartefactsbytheHistoricalSocietywhichledtolotsofexcitedlearningaboutmagicalcreaturescalledBroggans. NewsfromKeyStage2HappyNewYearfromallofusinKS2.WehopeyouhadawonderfulChristmasbreak;it’sbeensolovelytoseeallofthechildrenbackatschoolthisweek.InY3,thechildrenarenowfocusedontheirnewgeographyunit,whichwillcovermountains,volcanoesandearthquakes.Theyhavealsobeenlookingatthethemeoflandscapemorebroadlyusingthebook‘TheTinForest.’Meanwhile,Y4havebegunlearningaboutriverswiththehelpofthebeautifullyillustratedbook‘ARiver’byMarcMartin.InY5wehavebeenlearningaboutIslamandsomeofitsmostimportantcustoms.Aswellasgettingtoknowtheirnewteacher,Y6areexcitedtobestartingaunitonthestruggleforcivilrightsinAmerica-afascinatingtopicwithlotsofopportunitiesforrichdiscussion.
