Nemo Walker Air
Indoor Benchmarking On the GoNemo Walker Air is a compact multi-technology solution for indoor measuring
and benchmarking. Nemo Walker Air, an Android-based multi-technology
solution, performs extensive synchronized measurements and synchronized script
events. One tablet acts as a master, conducting multi-measurements by sending
commands to up to seven test terminals via Bluetooth® connection. Nemo Walker
Air features POLQA and PESQ voice quality testing, PEVQ-S video quality testing,
and HTML testing with real web browser capability. It uses the internal GPS
receiver of a smartphone to log and display geographical coordinates. An optional
backpack offers a compact carrying solution for the whole system.

Nemo Walker Air offers a solution for measuring the air interface of 5G NR (with
Qualcomm X50/X55 and Samsung Shannon chipset based devices), LTE/LTE cat 12, WiFi
(HetNet), WCDMA, HSDPA, HSUPA, HSPA+, EVDO, CDMA, GSM, wireless networks,
and mobile application Quality of Service (Qos) and Quality of Experience (Qoe). Nemo
Walker Air supports 5G NR scanner measurements using PCTEL IBflex and PCTEL HBflex
scanners.

Nemo Walker Air’s measurement data gives you a complete and detailed picture of the
radio interface and the quality of the tested applications. The detailed and comprehensive
radio interface data recorded with Nemo Walker Air is optimal for network planning, roll-
out, tuning, verification, optimization, and maintenance. The application performance
metrics are vital in mobile service benchmarking and QoS/QoE evaluation. Continuous
recording of radio interface metrics ensures that the reasons for less than satisfactory
service quality can always be found.
Log files can be uploaded to FTP/HTTP server from master unit or collected manually from
slave units. Nemo Walker Air’s full and proven compatibility with third-party tools enables
also post-processing with any other tool supporting the Nemo file format.
5G NR Scanner MeasurementsNemo Walker Air supports 5G NR scanner measurements using PCTEL IBflex and PCTEL
HBflex scanner devices. The collected metrics are NR-ARFCN, physical cell identity, and
beam index. In addition, PCTEL HBflex supports millimeter wave frequencies up to 40
GHz.

Configurations
The Nemo Walker Air package includes one master tablet and 1 to 7 slave units, all
including the Nemo Walker Air software. Slave units can be chosen from a selection of
the latest smartphone models. The optional Nemo Walker Air backpack includes high-
quality USB batteries, and can be used as a standalone system without an external
power source. The runtime of the complete system is up to 10 hours, making it possible
to use Nemo Walker Air for a complete working day without having to re-charge it. The
backpack also includes one 12/220/110V charging cable for the whole system.

Scanning option
Nemo Walker Air supports PCTEL IBflex, and PCTEL HBflex scanners. The portable
battery-operated scanners make it possible to combine scanning and indoor
measurements with Nemo Walker Air. When using PCTEL IBflex/PCTEL HBflex scanners
for measurements in conjunction with Nemo Walker Air, it is possible to:

Data Views and User InterfaceIndoor measurements
Nemo Walker Air provides indoor map (floorplan) support with an easy-to-use interface
that includes zoom and pan tools. Import digital images into Nemo Walker Air master
and convert them into map files (.tab), or take a picture of a floor plan with the phone’s
camera to be used as indoor map. Nemo Walker Air also supports the iBwave map
format. You can set the scale of the map based on a known distance on the map and
set the geodetic coordinates of the map based on two known coordinate positions.
Nemo Walker Air geocodes indoor floorplans on top of the Google Maps. You can also
modify existing floorplans that are not geocoded directly from the Nemo Walker Air
interface. The measurement route can be drawn on the map with markers.
In Nemo Walker Air, there are two ways to track the location of the Nemo Walker Air unit
indoors and place waypoints, i.e. markers, automatically. With the automated location
mapping feature, a tracking module is used to position the Nemo Walker Air unit and the
measurement route is is automatically displayed on the device´s screen. The automatic
indoor positioning feature enables placing markers automatically by utilizing camera
and other sensors on the terminal to get the speed and position indoors when GPS is
not available. The faults in the network can be pinpointed accurately, ensuring reliable
analysis of the results and allowing you to concentrate on the actual troubleshooting
instead of on adding markers on the map while walking.
When importing an indoor map into Nemo Walker Air, you are also able to create
and use a route plan that you want to follow.Turn logging on, walk according to the
route plan and add a marker when you reach the next waypoint on the map. After the
measurement Nemo Walker Air provides a measurement and marker file that can be
used in post-processing.

Nemo Walker Air performs Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) testing. Use iBwave
indoor plans or BTS files to see indoor small cell antennas and transmitters displayed
on the indoor map. During a walking test a user-defined visual notification on the map
indicates whether the current DAS antenna is transmitting or not.
Nemo Walker Air exchanges project information directly between iBwave Planner
and Nemo Walker Air. iBwave Planner and Nemo Walker Air both run on the same
device using the IBWC file as a common medium. This allows you to create a floor plan
in iBwave Planner, switch to Nemo Walker Air for the measurements and switch back to
iBwave Planner to create a preliminary design.
All network parameters supported by the terminal’s mobile trace interface, including
signaling messages, are logged and made available for playback with Nemo Outdoor
and for easy analysis and reporting with Keysight’s Nemo post-processing tools. You
can select a custom set of metrics measured by the slave units to be monitored in real
time with the master. Metrics are also visible on the slave screens in real time.
View application testing and RF parameter displays simultaneously. Application QoS/
QoE statistics are displayed in real time for all of the supported applications.

Application TestingNemo Walker Air supports built-in application testing options. It is possible to test voice
and video calls, voice quality, FTP and HTTP data transfers, HTML browsing, YouTube
video quality and streaming, Facebook testing, LinkedIn testing, Twitter testing, Netflix
testing, Instagram testing, Dropbox testing, WhatsApp testing, Viber testing, BiP testing,
mScore testing, Iperf, email testing, ping, and SMS & MMS messages with scripts. The
QoS/QoE KPIs logged by Nemo Walker Air include connection setup delay, download
time, time-to-content delay, throughput, and more.
Voice and video call testing
Nemo Walker Air offers support for manual and scripted voice and video call testing.
Store call-related measurement events in the Nemo Walker Air log file, and include, for
example, call attempt, call connect success, call disconnect, and call failed.
IMS testing (optional)VoLTE/ViLTE testing
Nemo Walker Air offers support to a number of different VoLTE/ViLTE measurements.
Record SIP signaling in real time and RTP data statistics like RTP jitter and Packet loss.
Nemo Walker Air further supports call statistics like call set up time, call success rates,
call failures, and SRVCC statistics.
VoWiFi/ViWiFi testing
With VoWiFi (voice over WiFi) and ViWiFi (video over WiFi) voice and video information
can be sent over the wireless broadband network in digital form. The technology
uses the IEEE 802.11 set of specifications (informally known collectively as WiFi) for
transporting data over wireless local area networks and the internet. Nemo Walker Air
offers support to VoWiFi/ViWiFi measurements in the same scale as with VoLTE/ViLTE
measurements with terminals that support testing over WiFi.
Voice quality testing (optional)
Nemo Walker Air supports voice quality measurements based on the POLQA (ITU-T
Rec. P.863) and PESQ (ITU-T P.862) algorithms. Voice quality (VQ) testing can be
performed both in uplink and downlink directions and in SWB (Super Wideband) and NB
(Narrowband) POLQA and PESQ measurement modes. The latest Samsung terminals
support voice quality testing.

PEVQ-S video quality testing (optional)
PEVQ-S is an advanced framework algorithm developed by OPTICOM for full-reference
video quality analysis in adaptive streaming environments. It combines FR high-accuracy
video-quality measurements with real-time measurements. Nemo Walker Air monitors
video quality with PEVQ-S testing.
WhatsApp testing (optional)
Measure the quality of data transfer when testing WhatsApp VoIP calls and sending and
receiving Whatsapp messages.
Viber testing (optional)
Measure the quality of data transfer when testing Viber VoIP calls and sending and
receiving Viber messages.
BiP testing (optional)
With Nemo Walker Air, you can perform chat message, VoIP and video call testing with
BiP. The test measures the quality of data transfer.
YouTube and Netflix video streaming (optional)
Use Nemo Walker Air to test YouTube and Netflix videos via scripts and collect the
application KPIs.
mScore testing (optional)
mScore testing in Nemo Walker Air performs a test against the mScore server in uplink
or downlink. The test takes a few seconds and measures the quality of data transfer.
Facebook testing (optional)
Facebook users send large quantities of data over cellular networks, for example, when
uploading and downloading pictures and sending messages. Social networking is a
relatively low-bandwidth pursuit, but when combined with other applications such as
cloud storage it has the potential to drive significant levels of traffic.
With Nemo Walker Air you can perform automated Facebook testing while still using
your Facebook account in the same manner as other users. Nemo Walker Air records
attempt, success, and failure events for all Facebook-generated transactions, thus
enabling the assessment of Facebook quality of service KPIs, such as success rates
and delay times for various transaction types.

These testing functionalities allow you to perform tests on different services, for example
profile loading, homepage loading, contact list loading, posting feeds, and sharing
information.
FTP sessions
Nemo Walker Air offers support for scripted testing of FTP data transfers. FTP transfer-
related measurement events, stored in the Nemo Walker Air log file, include data
connection attempt, data connection success, data disconnect, and data connection
failed.
HTTP sessions
Nemo Walker Air offers support for scripted testing of HTTP data transfers. HTTP
transfer-related measurement events, stored in the Nemo Walker Air log file, include
data connection attempt, data connection success, data disconnect, and data
connection failed.
ICMP ping testing
Nemo Walker Air offers support for scripted ICMP (Internet Control Message Protocol)
ping testing. Ping-related measurement events, stored in the Nemo Walker Air log file,
include ping attempts, ping failed/succeeded, and ping success rate.
SMS messages
Nemo Walker Air offers support for scripted SMS sending. SMS-related measurement
events, stored in the Nemo Walker Air log file, include SMS send attempts, SMS send
succeeded/failed, and SMS success rate.
Iperf for TCP/UDP
Iperf was developed as a modern alternative for measuring TCP and UDP bandwidth
performance. With Iperf for TCP and UDP testing, it is possible to measure the
maximum performance of a network.

IP packet capturing
Capture application level data with Nemo Walker Air. The data is collected in a separate
logfile in .pcap format. Pcap files can be processed with Nemo Outdoor, Keysight’s
Nemo post-processing tools, or Wireshark. By default, full IP capture, including IP and
all the layers above, is logged. Pcap logfiles can be very large if no filtering is applied.
Therefore, it is practical to apply filtering to capture only the procotol layers of interest.
Capture filter rules are defined in the standard Wireshark filter format.
Nemo Instant Report
Nemo Walker Air supports the Nemo Instant Report feature. This feature greatly
enhances the possibility to create a report on the go after your measurements have
been conducted. In the field, you can produce the report in PDF format instantly after
the measurement session is over, and choose to send the report via email if needed, or
view it on the measurement device on the spot.
ScriptsIt is possible to use script files to run measurements with Nemo Walker Air. All slave
units run different scripts that can be viewed on the master tablet under each measuring
unit as well as on each slave under Script page. When a script is used, Nemo Walker
Air makes voice calls, FTP and HTTP data transfers, HTML browsing, SMS message
sending, email message sending, and ping testing automatically. You can also create
conditional, system-triggered scripts with indefinite or random wait periods that end
when a specific system becomes active or you can use triggers that initiate a voice call
when a specific system becomes active. With nested scripts (scripts inside of scripts)
you can run complex automated measurements combining several scripts. Scripts
can be created and edited with Nemo Walker Air’s integrated script editor. When the

Autologging option is activated, Nemo Walker Air will start logging automatically when a
script is started.
Centrally Controlled Testing with Nemo Cloud
Nemo Cloud is a one-stop-shop platform for centrally controlled network testing. It
allows network operators to remotely operate Nemo Outdoor, Nemo Invex II, and Nemo
Handy/Nemo Handy Autonomous test units and check their status. The location and
status of field units, including the driver’s contact details, are tracked in Nemo Cloud.
Configuration settings can be shared to and between all measurement units within the
same project quickly and easily. Nemo Cloud supports all devices and test protocols
currently supported with Nemo tools.
A single user is able to remotely monitor and manage numerous Nemo measurement
kits in the field thus eliminating the need for two technicians in a test vehicle.
Measurement sessions are created and scheduled in Nemo Cloud and they can be
assigned for individual measurement units or to groups of units. Field unit hardware
configurations and test device details can be verified remotely to avoid failed drive tests
caused by malfunctioning hardware. In addition, hardware failures, incorrect scripts and
other issues can be spotted and corrective measures taken immediately instead of at
the end of a one-week test campaign. By reacting without delay, both time and money
can be saved.
For locally controlled Nemo tools, Nemo Cloud provides file and configuration sharing
between measurement units. This reduces work before the start of the measurement
project in the field and eliminates human errors in local measurement unit configuration.

Post-ProcessingNemo Walker Air produces measurement files in Nemo file format (.nmf) so
measurement files do not need to be converted before post-processing. Measurement
data can be exported from Nemo Walker Air either by using a data cable or a memory
card. A detailed description of the Nemo file format is included on the product USB. The
file format description contains all recorded events and their parameters.
