Neil J. Rubenstein is a Shareholder in the firm’s Bank and Finance and Real Estate Prac�ce Groups in the
San Francisco office. Mr. Rubenstein represents financial ins�tu�ons, private investors and loan
servicers in a wide variety of financing transac�ons, including the purchase and sale of loan por�olios,
securi�za�ons, nego�a�on and documenta�on of loan transac�ons, problem loan workouts, le�er of
credit ma�ers and bank opera�on issues. He also has substan�al bankruptcy, li�ga�on and appellate
experience in creditors' rights, bank opera�ons, and lender liability ma�ers.
Mr. Rubenstein is the 2013 recipient of the California Bankers Associa�on’s Robert Frandzel award for
superior and noteworthy legal assistance by an outside counsel to the California banking industry. He is
a member of CBA’s Legal Affairs Commi�ee and has wri�en and lectured extensively on issues of
interest to the financial services industry. He has also tes�fied on mul�ple occasions before California
legisla�ve commi�ees on bills affec�ng banks and other lenders. He was conference chair of CBA’s 2013
Bank Counsel Seminar.
Mr. Rubenstein is also a member of the Financial Ins�tu�ons Commi�ee of the Business Law Sec�on of
the State Bar of California and past chair of its Commercial Lending Subcommi�ee. He is AV Preeminent
rated by Mar�ndale Hubbell.
Mr. Rubenstein was president of the Board of Directors of the Alameda Food Bank from 20072012. He
currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Altarena Playhouse, in Alameda,
California.
