What About You?
10
a ge, health & mobility
Thistour(asthenamesuggests)isalittledifferenttomost.Weusetheterm‘midlife’ loosely(withtongue-
in-cheek),becausemost of the folk who come with us on these well-paced, hassle-free adventures are in their 60s and 70s!Yousee,inourexperience,AGEisn’tasimportantasATTITUDE.Andyourdate-of-birthisn’tasrelevantasyourhealth,mobilityandoutlook. We’rekeentoattractlike-minded, fun-loving, young-at-heart travellers – nomatterwhattheirage.Andourgroupshavealwaysincludedagoodmixofsinglesandcouples… plusagoodmixofages:mostintheirmiddleyearsorretired… someyounger… andsomeolderstill,whooftenturnouttobethelife’n’souloftheparty! Yes,thisMidlifeMadnesstourinvolveslengthyflights,somelongdays,lotsofgettingon-and-offourcruise-
ship,anddailywalking/standing/seeing/doing.Whichprobablymakesitunsuitableforyouifyouhaveadisability… mobility/balanceproblems… heart/lung/eyesightconditions… orotherhealthissuesthatcould(i)placeyouatunreasonablerisk,(ii)requireextratime/attentionfromthetourleaders,or(iii)slowdownthegroupasawhole.And,yes,tobeonthesafeside,ifyou’re75 years old (or more),you’llbeaskedtocompleteaMedicalCertificate(see below) – whichmayrequiresomeinputfromyourdoctor. But the GOOD NEWS is: if you’re fit, healthy and able to keep up … if you want to have fun-fun-fun, go mildly wild, and laugh yourself silly with a bunch of fellow-Kiwis … then YOU’LL FIT IN JUST FINE!
M edical Certificate please
1. Youmust advise us,atthetimeofbooking(andlater,shouldthingschange),if youhaveANYrelevanthealthormobilityproblemsweneedtobeawareof.
2. Ifyouhaveanyhealthormobilityproblems– orifyou’re75 years old (or more) – you’llbeaskedtocompleteaMidlifeMadnessMedical Certificate(fromHouseofTravel) – whichmayrequiresomeinputfromyourdoctor.(Thisinformationwillbetreatedconfidentially.)
3. Ifwebelievethistourisunsuitableforyou(forhealthormobilityreasons): a. wemaydeclineyourbooking,withregret(we’dencourageyoutojoinaslower-
paced,less-demandingtour)… or b. ifyouwereintendingtotravelonyourown, wemayrequest that you travel with
someone else(yourwife/husband/partner,afamilymember,aclosefriend,atravel-buddy)– whocanaccompanyyouandprovideanyspecialassistanceyoumayneed.
T ravel insurance – compulsory
Travellingwithno(orinadequate)coverishighlyrisky– and, shouldanaccidentorillnessoccurwhileyou’reoverseas, itcanproveextremelycostly!Whichiswhywe require everyone joining this Midlife
Madness Tour to have adequate, up-to-date insurance (includingprovisionforemergencyevacuation).Regrettably,
11
failure to attend to this could result in your booking being declined. Please, therefore, considerthefollowingtwooptions:
1. Youcansign up for our RECOMMENDED TRAVEL INSURANCE.HouseofTravelEllerslieofferavaluable discount (up to 20%)thatyoumightliketotakeadvantageof.SimplycallGlen Armstrongon0800 323 333

2. Alternatively,you can arrange YOUR OWN INSURANCE,ifyouwish.However,toavoidanyunpleasantorexpensiveshocks(intheunlikelyeventofanaccidentorillness): a. please check your policy’s fine-printcarefullyandmakesureyouknowwhatyou’recoveredfor– and
whatyou’renotcoveredfor.Forexample,youshould be coveredfor‘emergencyevacuation’ (intheeventofseriousinjuryorillness)and‘civilcommotion’ (intheeventofriotsanddemonstrations).Ifindoubt,discussyourconcernsasapwithGlen atHouse of Travel Ellerslie.

(B,D) Munich isacitywheretraditionalandmodernsitside-by-sidelikefewplacesonearth.Itscenturies-oldbrewingindustryisaliveandkicking– withsixmammothbreweriespumpingoutworld-classsuds,andsixmillionpeopleflockingannuallytothecity’sfamousOktoberfest,dressedmoreoftenthannotintheirtraditionallederhosen.

We’lltakealeisurelylookaroundandseeforourselveswhytheMunchnerslovetheircitysomuch.Then,tonight,we’llsitdownsomewhereniceforourMidlife Madness Farewell Dinner.
