IF YOU want to be success-ful on The Farmer Wants aWife, you’d better be anextrovert.

That is the opinion ofpsychologist Dr Janet Hall, who says it takes a certainkind of person to deal withthe exposure and pressurethat comes with the Chan-nel 9 dating show.

Farmer is a public forumwhere about one millionviewers each week witnesscontestants’ romantic suc-cesses and failures.

Now in its sixth season,Farmer has producedthree marriages, two en-gagements and a baby.

Chris Newsome and KimTierney, who met and fellin love on the first series in2007, became parents toCharlotte in 2009.

Rob Hodges and JoFincham from season twoare married and expectinga child, and season four’sBrad Crane married StacieMarmion. ‘‘Only peoplewith a certain (outgoing)personality type can getahead in this kind of situ-ation,’’ Dr Hall says.

Host Natalie Gruzlewskisays Farmer has had a bet-ter success rate than TheBachelor or The Ba-chelorette (one marriageout of 15 seasons and oneout of six seasons, respect-ively) because it is fair din-kum. ‘‘The beauty of theshow is its sincerity,’’ shesays. ‘‘What you see iswhat you get.’’
