PROPERTIES OF BAMBOO VARY GREATLY FROM SPECIES TO SPECIES, AND TO SOME EXTENT WITH IN A SPECIES

CULMS ARE GENERALLY LONG & STRAIGHT AND THE HOLLOW INTERNODES MAKE IT COMPARATIVELY LIGHT

STRENGTH VARIES WITH THE SPECIES, AGE OF CULM, MOISTURE CONTENT AND PORTION OF CULM AND GENERALLY INCREASES UNTIL IT REACHES MATURITY.
