Motivation and Employee performanceMotivation is a process which begins with a physiological or psychological need or deficiency which triggers behavior or a drive that is aimed at a goal or an incentive.

Motivation is the consequence of an interaction between the individual and the situation. People who are motivated exert a greater effort to perform than those who are not motivated.

Motivation is the willingness to do something. It is conditioned by this actions ability to satisfy some need for the individual

PROCESS-BASED APPROACHES TO MOTIVATION

These approaches to motivation are concerned with how motivation takes place. They focus on why people choose certain behavioral options to fulfil their needs and how they evaluate their satisfaction after they have attained their goals. Two useful process-based approaches are expectancy theory and equity theory.Job design means work design and task design. The aim of a job design is to improvejob satisfaction to improve through-put, to improve quality and to reduce employee problemsEmployee participationit does not mean participation in day-to-day decisions, which are a matter for the management, but participation in the supervision and strategic development of the company.Employee participationis the process wherebyemployeesare involved in decision making processes, rather than simply acting on orders.Flexible work arrangement Flexibility is about an employee and an employer making changes to when, where and how a person will work to better meet individual and business needs. Flexibility should be mutually beneficial to both the employer and employee and result in superior outcomes.Goal settingsGoal setting is the process of deciding what you want to accomplish and a plan to achieve the result you desire.Performance management Performance managementis a process by whichmanagersand employees work together to plan, monitor and review an employee's work objectives and overall contribution to the organization.

Organizational rewards Reward means a thing given to any onebecauseof his contribution to organization. The most obvious reward that individual gets from the job is in the form of pay.
