Troilus, Prince of Troy falls in love with Cressida, daughter of the High
Priest of Pallas, Calkas, who proves to be a traitor. They are united through
the machinations of Cressida’s uncle, Pandarus and pledge their lives
together. Due to the machinations of war, Cressida is removed from Troy to
join her father in the Greek camp. Troilus’ messages to Cressida are
concealed from her and in despair she gives in to the advances of the Greek
King Diomede. Troilus and Pandarus arrive in the Greek camp to take
Cressida back after paying a ransom. Cressida is forced to choose between
Troilus and Diomede and, when she will not renounce Troilus, Diomede’s
anger leads to Troilus being murdered by Calkas. Cressida takes her own
life.
