In addition to the base DL4000 chassis, also available are the DL4042, DL4000P,
and DL4100. These chassis increase both the flexibility and cost effectiveness of the
platform. The DL4042 is a four slot chassis, sharing the dimensions of the DL4000 but
with dual internal AC power supplies. The DL4100 is a compact unit that holds a single
DL4000 based module, and the DL4000P is a passive 4 slot chassis designed to house
DL4000 based WDM, CWDM, and DWDM optical multiplexers.

The DL4000 Digital Video Transport System is a new generation of universal video
transport leveraging Artel’s more than 25 years of carrier class video transmission
experience. A small, rugged modular chassis, the DL4000 combines the space

Small Form-Factor Pluggable Optics
TheDL4000VideoTransportSystemutilizesacommonsetofexternally
accessible Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP) optics. SFPs are both an optical
transmitter and wide band receiver and feature standard LC connectors. For ease
of deployment and sparing DL4000 SFPs are designed to be compatible across
virtually the entire platform.
DL4000 ViDEO TRAnSPORT SySTEM
Artel designed the DL4000 Video Transport System to be the most easily
deployed and maintained Fiber Optic Transport System ever developed. This
included designing the system with a common set of externally installed SFP
optics. These SFPs are available in 1310nm, 1550nm, 18 CWDM and 40 DWDM
channels and include a wide band optical receiver. This enables a variety
offlexibledeploymentswithsignificantlylessstockedopticalcomponents.

The DLC150E is a flexible audio embedder and video transport card designed for use
in the DL4000 Digital Video Transport System. The DLC150E will embed analog or AES
audio into SDI and SDTI as well as transport all standard 270Mb/s digital formats.
The DLC150 functions as both an audio embedder for four channel analog or two stereo pair
AES-3 audio, and as a 270Mb/s video over fiber optics transport module. The DLC150 uses
industry standard 1310nm, 1550nm, and CWDM Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP) optics.
Provisioningandmonitoringisaccomplishedusingswitches,LEDs,frontmonitorjack,SNMP
or HTTP via DL-Monitor.

The DLC170AD uses advanced high performance 12-bit video processing with adaptive
3DcombfilterstoconvertNTSC-M/PAL-B/GanalogcompositevideotoITU-RBT.601/656
compliant, 525 or 625 line, 4:2:2 component digital video. Four channels of analog audio
areconvertedto24bitdigitalsignalsandsampledat48kHzandthenembeddedintothe
digital video per SMPTE 272M for a total of 4 analog channels. The audio can be inserted
into any one of the four groups.
Usingthebackplanetoprovidejumperfreeconnections,additionalaudiochannelgroups
can be added by cascading the DLC170AD digital output to one or more DLC150E audio
embedders. An SFP installed into the final module provides the optical output of the
combined signals.

The DLC200 is a flexible fiber optic Ethernet transceiver module for all Ethernet
rates including Gig-E. The DLC200 features industry-standard SFP optics to
provide 1310nm, 1550nm, CWDM, and DWDM optical transport with optical
budgets up to 34dBm.

The DLC200 provides for optical transport of 10Mb/s, 100Mb/s and 1000Mb/s Ethernet.
A fully featured Ethernet Optical transceiver, the DLC200 has two externally accessible
SFPsandoneUTP(RJ45port).ItcanbedeployedasUTP-to-optical,asoptical-to-UTP,
or as an optical-to-optical (optical repeat/regenerate). A single piece rugged module,
takingoneslotintheDL4000chassis,itincludesfrontpanelLEDsforvisualmonitoring
of status and on-board switches for configuration. Externally accessible industry stan-
dardSFPopticsallowforrapid,toolfreeandflexibledeploymentintoopticalnetworks.

usedinconjunctionwithaDLC170DA,thedesigninsuresfullTV-1RS250-C“shorthaul”analogperformance

Foropticaltransport,theDLC270includescapabilitiestotransmitbroadcastqualityjitterfreeHD-SDI(SMPTE
292M),SD-SDI(SMPTE259M-C),DVB-ASI,ATSCsignalsaswellasallother270Mb/sbasedtransportformats.Used
inconjunctionwiththeDLC170DA,migratingfromCompositeAnalogtoanydigitalformatispossiblewithout
replacinganyequipment.Indigitalmode,theDLC270iscompatiblewiththeDLC100,DLC300andothernon
scrambled or dithered optical receivers.
Optical transmission is performed using externally accessible SFP optics in 1310nm, 1550nm, CWDM wavelengths.
Provisioningandmonitoringisaccomplishedusingswitches,frontandbackpanelLEDsandBNCs.DL-Manager,
an SNMP or HTTP remote provision and management tool is also embedded in the module. Cost effective, flex-

optical transmitter. When used with the DLC170DA, the design insures full TV-1 RS250-C

dition the DLC270 is a optical transmitter for HD-SDI, SD-SDI, DVB-ASI and SDTI. Combining

TheDLC274utilizesTimeDivisionMultiplexing(TDM)tocombinefourindepen-
dent 270Mb/s video signals into one optical channel. This enables transport of
upto160270Mb/sserviceoverasinglefibermakingitidealforconservingboth
fiberandrackspace.
The DLC274M and DLC274D provide a space efficient and cost effective method of
transporting up to four 270Mb/s digital video services over a single optical wavelength.
Services can be any combination of 270Mb/s video signals including SDI, SDTI, and
DVB-ASI. Optical regeneration or repeating is accomplished using the DLC274D which
includes drop and continue capabilities, the DLC100, DLC300 or any other system
capableorrepeatinga1.485Gb/ssignal.Usingindustrystandard1310nm,1550nm,
CWDM, or DWDM Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP) optics the DLC274 enables
transport of up to 160 270Mb/s circuits over a single fiber.

The DLC300 incorporates numerous features in a flexible, easy to deploy and

The DLC300 is a flexible fiber optic transport module for all digital video formats
from 19.39Mb/s (ATSC) to 2.97Gb/s (3G-SDI). The DLC300 is a single module, user
configurable to function as a Transmitter, Receiver, or Repeater and supports
