Unique identification authority of INDIA. Its an agency of Government of India. It was established in February 2009. Its main aim is to provide unique identity / number to all Indians.

Latest Developments in Aadhaar Scheme
10 Crore Aadhaar Numbers linked to Bank Accounts.As of 28th October 2014, 70 Crore Aadhaar Cards have been issued. As on that date 9 states including A.P., Delhi, Kerala, H.P. have crossed 90% Aadhaar coverage.Over 16 states have crossed 70% coverage.Newly assigned states of U.P., Uttarakhand, Bihar, Chhattisgarh with a population of about 34 crore. 26% population covered in the above four mentioned states ( ~8.93 crore)Project to link Voter ID card launched on 5th Feb., 2015 in Chandigarh.EPIC Photo ID card will be linked to Aadhaar card.
