Dear Parents and Community
TRIPLE P On Monday, we hosted a free Triple P Parenting seminary for our parents and community members. Those who attended said it was a fantastic session and the information they received was very useful. Thank you very much to those parents who supported the seminar and brought in some delicious morning tea for everyone to share. Thank you also to our presenter, Yvette Harrison, for coming up from Northam to present. If you were unable to attend this session but would like to, please contact the school as there is a session running in Watheroo on October 30 and Dalwallinu on November 2.
CRICKET CARNIVALS Early next term, our PP-2 students and 3-6 students will be participating in a Woolworth Cricket Blast Cup in Miling. The PP-2 carnival is being held the second day back of next term, Wednesday 10 October, so it is important all permission slips are returned by their due date; tomorrow. The 3-6 carnival is being held on Friday 19 October, permission slips will be sent home early next term. Both carnivals are being held in Miling and welcome volunteers and spectators.
NAPLAN
We are yet to receive our 2018 NAPLAN
data from the Department. As soon as we
receive individual student reports they will
be sent home with your child.
SCORCHERS BUS Today we were lucky enough to get a visit from the Scorchers Bus. Both classes were treated to a cricket clinic to learn and refine their cricket skills in preparation for their carnivals next
term. After the skills session the students had the opportunity to ask questions before receiving some freebies from the bus. Thank you to Cricket WA for giving our students this opportunity.
WORLD’S GREATEST SHOWMAN
Congratulations to Foxy on achieving the Most Outstanding Exhibit - Vegetables at the Moora Show on Saturday. NEDSSA Congratulations to our students, staff and parents on hosting a brilliant NEDSSA Athletics Carnival last Friday. The weather was beautiful, as was the spirit in which our students participated. Congratulations to all of our individual award winners and record breakers, and to all of the teams on their efforts. Well done to Miling Blue on winning the day – this is the first time a Miling team has ever won the Champion Shield at NEDSSA!! Thank you to Kalannie for joining us for a fantastic day and to all those who volunteered for a job or came to cheer on the children. Next year, we will travel to Kalannie for the carnival.

The last BUZ session covered how to respond when people are being mean or bullying you. What I
like about BUZ is it not only states the strategies but describes step by step how to do them and
gives opportunities to practice them. We learn to walk away ‘the cool way’, how to ask someone to
stop and how to get help from a teacher. The focus is on balancing the power between the child
being bullied and the one doing the bullying by encouraging them to manage the situation
themselves without conflict. While this is difficult for young students, it is good to introduce these
ideas early.
Both classes played Time Ball for the last time in Game Factory with impressive results. They were
working efficiently as a team, although they didn’t seem to be able to break their records, I suspect
that some students were away when we set the records. I’m looking forward to setting some new
challenges in the weeks to come.
Thank you for your support,
Wil

A huge thankyou to family and friends that made our day for “Harro” very special. It was great to see so many budding golfers take to the course to show us you cared for the wonderful caring man that Harro was.
We have had a lot of firsts this year so it fantastic to share this day with everyone.
From the Carlton mid stubby to start the day to the shooters of Kraken to end the day.
Thankyous go to Gaille Groves for babysitting. Simon and Mouse drinks waiters keeping everyone hydrated throughout the day, everyone in the kitchen, Stevie D and Simon cooking the burgers, Simon for making the trophy, Rusty and Riana for organising the teams, the boys behind the bar, Miling Golf Club men for getting the course looking awesome, Mark for the firepit, the girls who made some yummy cakes and slices.
We had donations from Carlton Mid for the hats, Direct Trade Supply and Hilti.
