• A girls’ soccer pro-
gram begun this year.

received scholarships in baseball, football, soccer and softball.
• Three students were named region champs in weightlifting and seventeen students named to All-Region teams.

Academic & Civic Accomplishments
• The Graduation Rate increased by 5 percentage points from 65.5% to 70.5%. This was the highest increase in Aiken County.
• The faculty offered 8th Period classes through the SC School Climate Grant.
• MVHS scored district’s highest EOC Algebra I scores in 2011.
• MVHS staff contributed $2,000 towards Clearwater Elementary School’s Back Pack food program for needy students.
• MVHS Staff received 2011-2012 School of the Year United Way Award for highest percentage increase of contributions over the previous year.
• NJROTC received the Unit Achievement Award.
• MVHS Band named a 2011 Honor Band of America. Eligible students performed in the All-State Orchestra.
• FFA program received National 3-Star Gold Emblem chapter status, which ranked MVHS in the top 3% of all FFA programs in the nation.
• MVHS students volunteered many hours with Toys For Tots, United Way of Aiken County, Meals on Wheels, Relay For Life, Ronald McDonald House and Special Olympics.
• MVHS FFA received the South Carolina Governor’s Citation for Student Development.
• NJROTC cadets contributed over 2,900 hours of volunteer service to the community, school, and various organizations.
• Culinary Arts received the Gold Program Award from the SC Department of Hospitality and Tourism.
• MVHS hosted 2012 Special Olympics for the second year in a row.
