General Project Guidelines
• If necessary, click File on the Ribbon to open the Backstage view
• Drag the scroll box down to show additional folders in the gallery
• Click the desired publication type to highlight it
• If necessary, click the desired folder to display related publication types
• Click the desired thumbnail to show the template preview

• With the desired template selected in the Backstage view, click the Color scheme box arrow in the Customize area to display the Color scheme gallery
• Click the desired color scheme • Click the Font scheme box arrow in the Customize area to
display the Font scheme gallery • Scroll, as necessary in the list, and then click the desired
font scheme • Click the Tear-offs box arrow in the Options area to display
the Tear-offs gallery • If desired, click a tear-off option • Click the Create button to create the publication using the

• Click the Page Number button on the status bar to close the Page Navigation pane

• Point to the area above the tear-offs, on the right side of the page layout, to display the placeholder boundary and the placeholder icon

• With the placeholder text selected, type the new placeholder text

• Click the Bullets button on the Home tab to display the Bullet Styles gallery
• Click the desired bullet character
• Type each item for the bulleted list, pressing the ENTER key after each item

• Click the text in one of the tear-off text boxes to select it
• Type the new text and then press the ENTER key
• Click outside of the text box to synchronize the other tear-offs

• Select the text for which you wish to increase the font size
• Click the Increase Font Size button on the Home tab to enlarge the text

• Right-click the text to autofit to display the shortcut menu and Mini toolbar
• Click the desired autofit option

• Click the boundary of the object to delete
• Press the DELETE key to delete the selected object

• Click the picture placeholder icon to display the Insert Picture dialog box
• Navigate to the photograph you wish to insert
• Double-click the photograph to insert to insert the photograph into the picture placeholder

• Click Picture Tools Format on the Ribbon to display the Picture Tools Format tab
• Click the More button to display the Picture Styles gallery
• Click the desired picture style in the Picture Styles gallery to apply the selected style to the picture

• Click the Show Building Block Library Dialog Box Launcher on the Insert tab to open the Building Block Library window
• Click the desired folder to open it
• Double-click the desired building block to insert it into the publication

• With the object selected, drag the boundary of the object to the desired location

• With the object selected, SHIFT+CTRL+drag a corner sizing handle to the desired size

• With the object selected, drag the boundary of the object until a layout guide appears with the object to which you want to align
• Release the mouse button

• Select the text of which you wish to change the font
• Move the mouse over the text until the Mini toolbar begins to appear
• Click the Font Color button arrow on the Mini toolbar to display the Font Color gallery
• Click the desired color to change the color of the text

• Click File on the Ribbon to open the Backstage view
• If necessary, click the Info tab in the Backstage view to display the Info gallery
• Click the Publication Properties button in the right pane of the Info gallery to display the Publication Properties menu
• Click Advanced Properties to display the Properties dialog box

• Enter the desired Properties in the Properties dialog box
• Click the OK button so that the dialog box no longer is displayed
• Click the File tab to return to the publication

• If necessary, click File on the Ribbon to open the Backstage view
• Click the Print tab in the Backstage view to display the Print gallery
• Verify that the printer name that appears on the Printer Status button will print a hard copy of the document. If necessary, click the Printer Status button to display a list of available printer options and then click the desired printer to change the currently selected printer
• Click the Print button in the Print gallery to print the publication
• When the printer stops, retrieve the printed publication

• Click the Draw Text Box button on the Home tab to select it
• Position the mouse pointer in the upper-left corner of the empty area and then drag downward and to the right, forming a rectangle, to create a new text box

• Click Home on the Ribbon to display the Home tab
• With the insertion point in the text to be centered, click the Center button to center the text

• Click the Save button in the Save As dialog box to save the publication

• Click the Start button on the Windows 7 taskbar to display the Start menu and then click Computer to open the Computer folder window
• Navigate to the storage location containing the Web publication
• Double-click the Web publication to open it in your browser
• If necessary, maximize the window when the browser window opens
