• Defined by R.E. Hickson from the Portland District U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 1912.

• Later refined and related to NGVD29.

• USACE Portland District published Columbia River Datum Elevations CL-03-116 which defined CRD and Ordinary High Water relative to River Mile in 1978.

• Current effort to define relative to NAVD88.
