The A-est of A-list celebrities, modelsand socialites hit the Met Gala red carpetMonday night in high style—and hightech—celebrating “Manus x Machina:Fashion in an Age of Technology,” thenew exhibit at the Metropolitan Museumof Art’s Costume Institute.

Arguably the hottest event of the so-cial season, the annual museumfundraiser was co-chaired by TaylorSwift, Idris Elba, Vogue’s Anna Wintourand Apple chief design officer JonyIve.

The exhibit showcases hand- andmachine-made fashion, as did thestars. Looking leggy in Louis Vuitton:Swift in a shimmery mini and bondagesandals, and Alicia Vikander in copper.

Flaunting feathers—Zoe Saldana

(lots of ‘em) and Saoirse Ronan. Ciara,who shimmered in custom H&M,risked silvery metallic hair (herstylist’s idea). “We wanted to have funwith this thing,” she said.

As for the men, Elba (perhaps thenext 007?) looked Bond-worthy inTom Ford. Rapper Wiz Khalifa wascool in cream. And only will.i.amcould pull off a face visor. (Seriously,Will, pulled it off.)

Most “illuminating?” KarolinaKurkova, in a “cognitive dress” byMarchesa and IBM. Embedded withLED lights and IBM’s Watson technol-ogy, the gown changed colors in re-sponse to the tone of Twitter com-ments at the Met.

Marchesa’s Keren Craig called it“something almost living and breath-ing.” And perhaps a sign of high-techstyles to come.

THE BOYS: Idris Elba in Tom Ford, Wiz Khalifa in Rag & Bone, and will.i.am pullsoff a face-hiding visor.
