DESK

With great pleasure and

honor, I write this foreword for the inaugural

publication of Electronics and

Telecommunication Engineering newsletter.

Indeed, this newsletter is a testament to the

department„s commitment in imparting

quality education in academia. This

encompasses a right balance between

research & development and teaching &

learning and very much in line with the

vision and mission of MESCOE. This

newsletter highlights the national

conference, workshop, seminars conducted

by the department both by students and staff.

This newsletter will provide a glimpse of

semester II of 2013-2014. Through our

Industrial relations and collaborative visits

of academicians from different universities,

we are trying to make our students industry

ready and employable. Few of such efforts

are reflected in this issue of newsletter. At

the end, I wish a great success for the

Newsletter which will be a true reflection of

the Department and will be an interface

between the Department and the rest of the

world.

In the Promethean heat of summer, the veins

of MESCOE grow still as people move

away or go on vacation. But let the fall roll

around and the hallways

re-awaken with fresh

voices and the rumble of

students. It is thus an

honor for me to be the

editor of the newsletter.

In the current issue, apart from institutional

reports, the Newsletter highlights two

articles on ACCET National Conference

held in this semester and Industry Institute

Interaction and NSS work for the society. I

am delighted to see that it had active

participation.

Newsletter values your contribution and I

look forward to your continuous support in

the coming issues.

Engineering Students on 7th

Jan 2014 and the expert guest

was Prof.P.N.Kulkarni .

A three day student

development program was

arranged by Electronics and

Telecommunication

department on 27th, 28

29th December and on 7

th, 8

and 9th february for Second

year students.The resource

Different activities were

conducted on each day like

Balloon blowing event so as

to inculcate Importance of

helping each other. Vision

Chart, Group Formation and

Games, Launch Of Company,

Creative Presentation Of

Values Learnt, Drama,

Presentation: Each student

had to present a technical

topic. The whole program

enhanced students

communication skills and

creativity .Also whole class

worked as team and good

class room culture was

developed .This program

gave students good insight

into company life. The SDP

21st January 2014.The

workshop was coordinated by

National workshop on SDR

exhibited a marvelous

platform to those in research

in signal processing and in

academia . The hands on

experience, the live

demonstration of SDR in each

topic as decided helped the

faculty members and student

participant understand the

basics of this new advent in

technology. Also on second

day Dr. Sutaone delivered a

lecture on basics of

OFDM.

The aim of this workshop is

to make the students learn the

designing and manufacturing

of a printed circuit board

using open source PROTEL

PCB design software and

with various active and

passive components such as

Regulators, Diodes, Resistors,

Capacitors, Inductors,

Switches, e.t.c.

The workshop was conducted

in collaboration with Mr.

Homraj Reddy from Praisin.

The technical team conducted

the workshop for guiding the

students in learning the

technologies of the PCB

Design workshop. They have

taken about 16 hours of

theoretical and practical

sessions. Total 107 students

had taken part in the

workshop.

Industrial Visit To Giant Meter Wave

Radio Telescope (Gmrt),

Narayangaon

On Science day i.e. on Saturday, 1st March 2014,

80 Students of T.E. (E & Tc), were taken to

GMRT by Mrs. Vijajalaxmi, Mrs Usha

Bombale, Mr. Laxman Guttedar, Mr Pravin

Pardhi, Mr. Rushikesh Maknikar

The GMRT was shown to be a Y-shaped array of

30 fully steerable (circular and azimuth)

antennae. There was one antenna, whose

operation (shown) was on exhibition. All the

operations of the antenna were explained – from

reception to demodulation to interpretation of

received signals.

The coordination between antenna to create

desired effect due to the array was also

explained. They explained that the GMRT is

used to observe weather patterns, is distant

galaxies, supernovae, quasars, pulsars,etc..

Every year the students gather

in order to participate in the

cultural program of the

college “Jhankaar”. It

provides a media for all the

students to come in front and

show their talents and interact

with each other in order to

know them. It forms a

complete package of

entertainment for all , the

teachers and the students.

This time it was bigger. There

were cultural events spanned

throughout the week before

Jhankaar like Rangoli,

Mehendi, Stage decoration

competition and Drawing

competition. Also

simultaneously auditions of

various activities like singing

, dancing , fashion show ,

drama were going

simultaneously. This time we

had an event which was the

highlight of the competitions

drawing more number of

people than any event and

that was “Treasure Hunt”.
