MODULAR DC-DC CONVERTER MDCC T 48V 30A 1+1
The Modular DC-DC Converter MDCC T 48V 30A1+1 is based on the DC-DC Converter Modules BMD4830.
It is designed to satisfy the typical requirements of telecommunication equipment.
In mains present condition it ensures a stabilized and filtered supply to the loads.
The Battery Management Option can be included to guarantee the full efficiency of the back-up batteries and, in case of DC Main supply fail, uninterruptible power supply to the loads.
The modular design, flexible and up-gradable, permits replacement of existing old plants and expansion of new plants without any interruption to service.
The system is entirely managed by a microprocessor System Control Unit (SCU), which concurrently monitors all the operating steps of the paralleled DC-DC Converter Modules (DC Modules), it signals the failures and manages all the parameters and the operating thresholds of the system. The whole configuration is software up-gradable.
The system redundancy, with one or more DC Modules besides the nominal power requirements, improves the system reliability. The system can be expanded, up-graded or maintained during the normal operation.
An isolated interface, like CAN BUS, connects all the DC Modules to the System Control Unit.The LAN Ethernet 10 Base T interface provides the LAN connection and allows the system remote management and monitoring from a standard personal computer via a common WEB browser. The LED/relay alarms can be automatically transmitted via e-mail or SMS.
Each DC Module input is selectively protected by external independent Miniature Circuit Breaker (MCB) and by internal input fuses in order to cut off the single DC-DC converter in case of fault. The DC Modules outputs are paralleled and the load is equally shared among the DC-DC converters even in case of fault of the System Control Unit.
The DC Distribution Panel provides the selective protection of the DC output loads through independent Miniature Circuit Breakers.
When the input voltage exceeds some configurable thresholds the DC Modules are halted with the consequent discharge of the battery. When the correct parameters of the main DC input are restored, the DC Modules restart automatically.

System Control Unit
The System Control Unit (SCU Card) manages the whole system, it includes the following parts:
Operator Interface section; Analogue input signals section; CAN BUS communication section; Real Time Clock (RTC); Power Supply section; LAN Ethernet 10 Base T interface section.
The Operator Interface allows the access to the system software configuration, it is composed of:
n. 1 display; n. 6 signaling LEDs; n. 4 function keys.
The System Control Unit communicates with all the modules by means of a CAN BUS connection.All the modules are continuously monitored to detect alarms and events that are associated to the relevant time reference and recorded (up to 1000 events can be stored).
The System Control Unit continuously monitors the input and output parameters, and consequently adjusts the converters voltage/current set-points.
Standard remote-alarm interface is provided by Relay Card (RL Card) equipped with six potential-free contact relays, fully software configurable. Two Additional RL Cards can be provided as option.
The LAN Ethernet 10 Base T interface allows the connection to the TLC network for the remote management of the system and the automatic transmission of SNMP traps, e-mail or SMS.
The Battery Management Option can be included to manage independently and separately different battery strings selectively protected, the measured and estimated parameters are:
Battery temperature; Battery voltage; Battery current; Battery Available Capacity; Battery Discharge Condition; Battery Residual Capacity; Battery Discharge Level.
The battery floating voltage is adjusted according to the temperature and some software configurable parameters.

DC Module BMD4830
The DC Module BMD4830 is a DC-DC Converter with input voltage 125Vdc, output voltage 48Vdc. It is composed of an input capacitive filter, a chopper section, and an inverter section that supplies the steady output voltage. The analogue regulation section allows the paralleling of the RD Modules outputs and includes all the protections. The power regulation is performed by means of a pulse width modulation signal.All the operation is under the control of an internal microprocessor.The microprocessor configures the set-points and manages the power-on/power-off procedure according to the current operation status and data received from the System Control UnitThe DC Module is cooled by four speed controlled fan on board.
