Well Mother Nature has been kind to us over the last month, let's hope it contin-
ues!! We will have a staff meeting soon to schedule rides for the upcoming rid-
ing season, we would love your input whether its a destination we have been to
before or a brand new place please let us know where you want to go. If you
would like to plan a ride just give us the date and a place to meet, need help
planning the route, we have two wonderful ride coordinators that will assist
you!! Spring Fling is fast approaching, it looks like we will have close to 30
members in attendance, I am positive we will have lots of laughs and a great
time as always!!! A big Thanks to Tom and Cindy Stewart for hosting our plan-
ning meeting, and skit practice and to Cindy for choreographing our skit. Our
dinner ride this month will be on March 21st at Poppy's in Crystal City. Please
watch your emails for impromptu rides.

February brought some beautiful days and many of us got our bikes out for rides. All though
we are having another cold snap coming it's only a few weeks till spring is here!! Hang in
there!!
We had another great turn out for the monthly meeting we are excited to see the interest of our
members. On Saturday the 18th we had an impromptu ride, we took a lot of great back roads
and wound our way up to the Tattooed Dog restaurant in Wentzville. We had 22 members and
enjoyed some good food and fun. We ended our ride at Ginny's having ice cream and more
socializing.
On the 21st, we had our dinner ride to Hollands Bar-b-que. We had 26 members attend, the
food was great and the company of friends even better.
Please continue to join in the fun of Chapter Z! See you at Spring Fling!

I hope this article finds everyone in good health and ready to ride. We have been blessed with a few really
great days, I hope many of you have been able to enjoy if not all, at least some of them.
Before I begin, I want everyone to know I AM NOT TELLING ANYONE WHAT THEY SHOULD PUR-
CHASE, I only give ideas for you to think about.
Sara and I attended the Winter Warmup in Peoria, Illinois a few weeks ago. We attended a class taught by Illi-
nois State Trooper Joey Watson. He said some things that will make you stop and think. One thing he said
was, “instead of purchasing that $200.00 piece of chrome, invest in an advanced riding class”. To me he was
saying what we want, may not always be the best choice.
When you picked the color of your motorcycle was it for safety so you were more apt to be seen, or was it
what appealed to you? When you picked out your helmets was it for a bright color, and were the helmets a
proper fit, or just a “good buy”? I know those black leather jackets have been around for a very, very, long
time and they are cool to wear, but are they the best choice? How about that new trailer: does it match your
bike or is it a different color? I have mentioned in the past that a member told me the different colors could
keep you from being ran into. These are a few of the decisions you must make as riders. If you decide to color
match, think about more lighting, reflective tape, or anything else that will help YOU to be seen.
Remember, carry some tools, electric tape, and whatever else you might want if you get stuck out. Cell phones
can go dead. Until next month, remember you make the final decision.

Our Motto... “Share the Road!”
Our Mission...
“To Facilitate A Reduction In Motorcycle Crashes With Other Motor Vehicles.”
Another winter month almost gone. A couple rides in already for some of us due to Mother Nature
being kind to us. Hope no one is neglecting maintenance that still needs to be done. Maintenance Day
for Chapter Z tentatively scheduled for April 15 at our house so make sure you purchase your sup-
plies ahead of time. I have seen several videos of motorcycle/vehicle accidents posted on the web
sites and it sends chills up your spine. Most the time it is the vehicle that is the cause, but that does
not mean it still could have been avoided! Slow down at intersections and look both ways for the id-
iot that is going to run the light. Don't assume they are going to stop. Seems redundant to keep saying
to make every effort to get their attention. Seems every week I see a death on a motorcycle in the
Leader Newspaper. Most the time it is the rider not negotiating a curve and going off the road. I al-
ways look at the time if the incident and if it was after midnight I can only imagine what that person
was doing before they got back on their bike to go home or next stop. Same thing goes when you
have all your faculties not influenced by alcohol or drugs. Don't ride and be thinking about what you
need to do later or tomorrow. It is easy to let your mind stray and go into a curve to fast or intersec-
tion and run a red light, etc. Kind of like starting spring training right now and we will all be out to-
gether on the bikes real soon. Please Ride Safe and Ride Smart!
