Computer Numerical Control
• What is it?
• Where is it?
• How is it Used?
• How Does it Work?
What is it?• CNC Machining is
controlling machines with computers. The computer creates a numerical program that the machine can understand.
Where is it?
• CNC machining is used in just about every factory across the world.
How is it used• CNC Machining is used to do repetitive tasks at
a high rate of speed and accuracy.
How does it work?• The machine has a
parent computer which contains a control software program. The control program is used to create a part program which is sent to the machine.
Automation• What is it?
• Where is it?
• How is it Used?
• How Does it Work?
What is it?• Automation is that act of a machine
running without human intervention.
Where is it?
• Automation has been used in factories since the industrial revolution. It can also be seen in some modern day vehicles.
How is it used
• Automation is used to do repetitive tasks at a high rate of speed without interruption.
How does it work?
• A machine is driven by a motor. The motor is powered by electric or computer driven.
Robotics
• Where is it?
• What is it?
• How is it Used?
• How Does it Work?
What is it?• Robotics are designed to do the work of
human beings. A robot is an unfeeling person.
Where is it?• Robotics are mainly used in auto
fabrication, but, can also be seen sparingly in factories.
How is it used
• A robot is a specially designed machine that completes a task at a high rate of speed with high accuracy and no endangerment to humans.
How does it work?
• A robot is designed in the image of human beings and runs on a computer program specially designed for a specific task.
Computer Aided Design• Where is it?
• What is it?
• How is it Used?
• How Does it Work?
What is it?
• Using computer design software programs to help create product and part designs.
Where is it?• CAD is used in product and part designs. It is
also used to make blueprints, floor plans and renderings.
How is it used• A CAD program is
used to create a more accurate and clear depiction of a design idea. It is also used to communicate design ideas to stakeholders, technicians, and skilled workers involved in the creation of a product.
How does it work?• CAD programming
is usually vector based. This means that it uses a computer program to plot points on the screen and connect the points.

• Technology Research
• Product Development
• Prototyping
Technology Research
• Technology research is usually action-based. It intends to solve a particular problem or meet an immediate need of a company or business.
Product Development
• The innovative creation of new inventions and ideas.
Prototyping• Creating a mock-up or model of a product
or project.
