Preparatory Department for Foreign Nationals is organized on the basis of the Pre-University Faculty. Time period of study at the Preparatory Department is 10 months. Foreign nationals who wish to become the students of GSTU study Russian as the language of instruction, communication and information exchange and also other subjects depending upon further higher education specialty (either technical or economical). International students that passed the final exams successfully are awarded a Certificate. They also gain the right to be admitted to the University as the first year students in the speciality selected.

The University has been providing instruction to international students since 2005. In GSTU international students study both at the main Faculties of the University and at the Preparatory Department for Foreign Nationals. At present about 200 international students from Russian Federation, Ukraine, Turkmenistan, China, Sri-Lanka, Kazakhstan, Iraq and Egypt study at the University. The majority of the University’s international students come from Turkmenistan. The most popular specialties among international students are those connected with oil and gas development, mechanical engineering, electric power supply, information technologies, marketing and management. The most popular faculties are Mechanical Engineering Faculty, Power Engineering Faculty, Economics and Humanities Faculty.
International Students Training
The international students can study both in National Groups and
together with students from Belarus.
After graduation from the University
the international graduate is awarded a corresponding
qualification and gets a Higher Education Diploma.
Favorable conditions for studying, living and recreation for international
students are provided at the University. This facilitates their adaptation to living
in Belarus and studying at the University.
Modern comfortable hostels with rooms for 2-3 persons are always at the international students’ service.
The creative persons are always welcomed to join the Student Club of the University. The Student Club includes choir, vocal studio, traditional and modern choreographic studios, Smart and Witty Club Team.

Gomel is one of the oldest cities of the Republic of Belarus (it is first mentioned in 1142). At present Gomel ranks second (after Minsk) largest city of Belarus.
The area of Gomel is 120 sq.km. The population is more than 500 000 people.
