eBay Confirms the Shutting down of Magento Go
Edition w.e.f. February 1, 2015!
Magento’s parent company, eBay, officially confirmed that
they will discontinue their Magento Go edition and ProStores
from February 1, 2015. eBay has partnered with
Bigcommerce to provide relief to Magento Go and ProStores
retailers, offering them free migration to Bigcommerce and a
sum of up to $900 in free and discounted support services.
Magento is now focusing on its core products, Community
and Enterprise, both of which are geared towards helping
large online store owners. Mid-sized retailers who are looking
forward to expedite their growth and run a more customized
online store can opt for professional Magento Development
Services on either community or the enterprise edition, while
smaller retailers can resort to migrating to Bigcommerce.
By announcing the shutdown early, eBay has given ample
time to Magento Go and ProStores owners to weigh out their
options for migration to Community or Enterprise editions, or
Bigcommerce. The company says that they will support the
store owners till the date of shutdown so that the holiday
sales season stays unaffected.
