… Loss of central vision
• loss of visual acuity: The ability to detect fine details, or small distances, for example when you read or drive.
• loss of contrast sensitivity: The ability to see less well-defined objects, such as faces, clearly.
Dry age-related macular degeneration
• Need brighter light than normal when reading. • It is difficult to read printed or written text (because it appears blurry).• Colors appear less vibrant.• Have difficulty in recognizing people's faces.• Vision seems hazy, or less well defined.
Wet age-related macular degeneration
• Visual distortions: Straight lines may appear wavy or crooked.• Blind spots: Usually appear in the middle of your visual field. The longer a blind
spot is left untreated, the larger it will become. This is known as a central scotoma.
Advancells Treatment for Macular DegenerationStep 1
Bone Marrow CollectionStep 2
Laboratory ProcessingStep 3
Stem Cell Implantation
• The collection of bone marrow is done from the hip bone (iliac crest) of the patient by using a thin needle to mini-puncture the skin under local
anesthesia.
• The stem cells from the collected bone marrow are evaluated to measure their strength and vitality in our
government-approved (cGMP),ultramodern laboratory.
• Through the process of intrathecal administration or Lumbar puncture, the stem cells
are implanted onto the patient’s body.
Case Example
(Pre Stem Cell treatment symptoms)
Name of Patient : Johan Grove
•First he was diagnosed with Fundus Flavi Maculatis, a very specific type of Retinal Degeneration, at the age of 15.
•This eye condition causes the central vision to degenerate to a point where no reading or writing is possible. The Macula is also responsible for color vision, recognizing faces, reading and writing.
•At this point in time he had less than 10% vision left before treatment.
•On Wednesday, 31 March he reported to the clinic to have the stem cell transplant.
Post Stem Cells Treatment
Name of Patient : Johan Grove
•After the treatment had to wait three months for his first visit to the eye specialist, then another three months to the second follow up.
•After the stem cell treatment, his vision has improved from 6/360 to 6/120, five lines on the eye chart after 7 months.
•His color vision has improved to a point where he can see the actual color like dark brown, dark green, dark blue or purple. Previously he could only distinguish between light and dark colors.
