Machu PicchupERUTRIP GRAD MODERAT-HARD
DATES: May 2017 and 2018
DURATION: 10 Days
Peru is an extremely diverse country, with 11 eco-
logical regions and 84 of the world’s 117 different
types of “life zone”. It has a huge variety of scen-
ery thanks to its geography, which also provides it
with a wide range of natural resources. The coun-
try has 3 main regions according to the traditional
method of dividing the country by altitude: coast,
mountains and jungle.
Peru is versatile and its geography proves it to
be the perfect place for adventure. A warm desert
coast, an imposing mountain range and a lush jun-
gle invite you to enjoy all kinds of extreme expe-
riences and adventures including hiking in the
mountains, sandboarding on coastal dunes and ca-
noeing in rivers or trekking the Inca Trail.
To trek in Peru is to walk through beautiful Andean
landscapes with stunning views of mountains and
lagoons. One can journey along the Qhapaq Ñan, the
network of ancient roads that connected the Inca
Empire; experience the culture of the communities;
hike along the Cordillera Blanca and Huayhuash in
Áncash or find more than one route to Machu Pic-
chu in Cuzco. Almost all the mountain ranges, in-
cluding valleys, plains and hills, offer trekking
routes with higher or lower degrees of difficulty.
Only some of these trails have been ‘discovered’ as
commercial trekking routes.
The rest remain unexplored, awaiting lovers of
these magical Andean paths, with their extraor-
dinary network of pre-Hispanic paths and over
12,000 lagoons, with the deepest canyons on earth,
glaciers and snowy peaks, forests and waterfalls,
beautiful towns and, above all, the most hospitable
people that one could imagine.

WEAtHER
Peru has three main climatic zones: the tropical Amazon jungle to the east; the arid
coastal desert to the west; and the Andean mountains and highlands in the middle of
the country. In the Andes, which have altitudes over 3500m, average daily temper-
atures fall below 10°C (50°F) and overnight temperatures can dip well below freez-
ing. From June to August is the dry season in the mountains and altiplano (Andean
plateau); the wettest months are from December to March. It rains all the time in the
hot and humid rainforest, but the driest months there are from June to September.
However, even during the wettest months from December to May, it rarely rains for
more than a few hours at a time.
FITNESS AND SAFETYSafety is our major concern with any
trip we run. All of the guides are chosen
for their extensive international expe-
rience. They each have at least 10 years

highest standard including at least one
medic on each trip. We carry an exten-
sive First Aid kit and Satellite phones
with us at all times. There are no spe-
cial requirements for this trip, except

restrictions providing you are in rea-
sonable physical shape. Medical forms
