    Recently,aflatnessmeasurementwasneededontwohalvesofanHPturbineshellusingLEVALIGNsystem.Thetophalf(restingupsidedown)wasatypicalquickandeasymeasurement,asshownbelowinFigure1:

    Thesecondhalf,wasnotsotypical.Thestudshadtoremainintheshellandthecustomerwonderedifourtoolcouldstilltakethemeasurementwiththelineofsightobstructionsforthelaserfromthestuds.TheanswerwasYES!

    TheuniqueInfiniSplicefeatureoftheLEVALIGNallowedforthistohappenwithouthavingtoresorttocustombracketstoshootoverthetopofthestuds.InfiniSpliceallowsformultiplesetsofmeasurementstobecombinedintooneunifiedmeasurement.Thisisbasedontheconceptthattwosetsofmeasurementscanbeunifiedormergediftheyhavethreeormorepointsmeasuredincommon.

    Itssimple.JustmeasureasmanypointsasyoucanwiththeLEVALIGNlaseremitterinthefirstposition.SeeFigure2.
