MECHANICAL GENERAL NOTES

1. MATERIALS, EQUIPMENT AND INSTALLATION SHALLCOMPLY WITH ALL REQUIREMENTS OF THE CONTRACTDOCUMENTS, BUILDING CODES, AND EQUIPMENT /MATERIALS INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS.

2. INSTALL ALL EQUIPMENT IN STRICT ACCORDANCE WITHTHE MANUFACTURE'S INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS.

3. EQUIPMENT, DUCT AND PIPING LAYOUTS AREGENERALLY DIAGRAMMATIC.

4. DUCT

a. RESIZE DUCT TO ACCOMMODATE ACTUAL FIELDCONDITIONS. MAINTAIN DUCT VELOCITY AS DESIGNED.MAINTAIN A MAXIMUM ASPECT RATIO OF 2:1.

b. DUCT MATERIAL SHALL BE G-60 COATED GALVANIZEDSTEEL OF ASTM STANDARDS A653 AND A924 GRADES.

c. ALL DUCTWORK SHOWN OF THE PLANS ARE FREEFLOW AREA (DOES NOT INCLUDE DUCT ANDINSULATION THICKNESS).

d. SEALING: SMACNA SEAL CLASS C: A MINIMUM OF TWOLAYERS OF MASTIC SHALL BE APPLIED TO TRAVERSEJOINTS. WIDTH SHALL EXTEND ½” ON EACH SIDE OFTHE SEAM. MASTIC SHALL BE THICK ENOUGH SO THATNO METAL IS VISIBLE THROUGH THE MASTIC. NOTAPPLICABLE TO EXPOSED DUCT IN CONDITIONEDSPACES. SEAL ALL TRANSVERSE JOINTS,LONGITUDINAL SEAMS, DUCT WALL PENETRATIONS OFAIR HANDLERS AND FILTER BOXES. DUCT SEALINGMUST BE INSPECTED BY THE LOCAL CODE OFFICIALPRIOR TO INSTALLING EXTERNAL DUCT WRAPINSULATION.

e. DUCT PRESSURE CLASS IS <2” UNLESS NOTEDOTHERWISE.

f. INSULATION:

i. INDOORS: SUPPLY AIR DUCT INSULATION: R6 DUCTLINER.

g. DUCTWORK AND PIPING SHALL BE STORED INCOVERED AREAS SO THAT IT IS NOT EXPOSED TO THEELEMENTS. THE ENDS OF THE DUCT MUST BEWRAPPED TO PREVENT DEBRIS FOR ENTERING THEDUCT.

h. INSTALL DUCT PER CURRENT SMACNA STANDARDSAND NC MECH CODE. DUCT SHALL BE GALVANIZED.

i. ALL ELBOWS SHALL BE SMACNA SMOOTH RADIUSELBOWS OR SQUARE THROAT RADIUS BACK.

j. ALL BRANCH DUCTS SHALL BE 45 DEGREE ENTRYTYPE.

k. PROVIDE BALANCING DAMPERS AT ALL BRANCHRUNOUTS TO GRILLES. BALANCING DAMPERS MUST BEACCESSIBLE.

l. FLEX DUCT SHALL BE UL 181 LISTED.

5. ALL ROOF OPENINGS SHALL BE PROVIDED BY THE GCAND COORDINATED WITH THE ROOFINNG COMPANYTHAT HOLDS THE ROOD WARRANTY.

6. ALTERNATE EQUIPMENT MANUFACTURES.

a. DIFFUSERS AND GRILLES: PRICE, NAILOR AND METALAIRE.

b. FANS: COOK OR GREENHECK

7. PIPING

a. FIRE CAULK ALL PIPING PENETRATIONS TO MATCHFIRE RATINGS (IF NEEDED).
