You may have noticed that our organization has been very focused
on job development, workforce development (training and education),
and filling the existing open jobs in Morgan Hill.
The reason for this is simple: We view these issues as the top under-
served need of our local business community and as major issues for
the overall wellbeing of our residents and the organizations which serve them.
Graphics tell the story better than words, so please consider the implications of the two charts below.
We are working hard
with local government,
education, business and
community organizations
to make the changes
needed to address these
issues.
We invite all of you to be
part of the conversations
and actions required to
make more opportunities
available for our residents.

Solis Winery Brings Home the Gold in 2017 Jerry
D. Mead New World International Wine
Competition
March 8, 2017 (Gilroy, CA): All that glitters is not gold…but apparently, the wines produced by Solis
Winery are! The estate vineyard in Gilroy recently won three Gold awards at the prestigious 2017
Jerry D. Mead New World International Wine Competition.
Solis Winery won the “Best of Class” Gold award for its 2013 Baciami, Reserve red blend as well as
two Gold awards for the 2013 Estate Merlot and 2013 Estate Zinfandel.
Vic Vanni, co-owner of Solis Winery, said, “We are very honored to receive these awards, especially
the Best of Class Gold for our Baciami Reserve. This silky and smooth Rhone blend offers complex
aromas of ripe plum, tobacco, cinnamon and sweet oak. It’s one of our favorites, and we’re extremely
proud to be named Best in Class among wines from around the world!”
Jerry D. Mead’s New World International Wine Competition (NWIWC) was established as an
independent competition in 1991 by founder Jerry D. Mead, a well-known syndicated wine columnist
who wanted to pit the best wines from each price class against each other. Today, the competition is
open to all varietals of wines produced anywhere in the world.
Solis Winery’s award-winning wines are available locally. Guests are encouraged to sample them by
visiting the winery’s tasting room, located at 3920 Hecker Pass in Gilroy. To learn more, visit
www.soliswinery.com.
About Solis Winery
Solis Winery lies in the heart of Santa Clara Valley’s rich wine-growing region. Originally planted by
Italian immigrants in the 1920s, the vineyard changed hands in 1980 when the Vanni family
purchased the land. Since then, the Vannis have continued to marry tradition with modern
technology and art with innovation to produce award-winning wines.

Napa Auto Parts- Joe Ward “My father (John Sr.) and I bought the business in September 2016. Previously we worked at a NAPA store in San
Jose, where my father was a minority partner for over 20 years and employed for more than 30. I literally grew up in
that store and was involved in management for the previous 10 years. When we realized there wasn’t any more op-
portunity for us there, my father decided to sell his shares back to his partner, and within two weeks of making that
decision we learned the Morgan Hill store was available. The previous owner, Marc Minton had asked us if we were
interested in the past but we wanted to stay in San Jose. After seven months with our own store, we couldn’t be
happier with the town, and our decision. “
Green Age Development a California based company with a long-term vision of restoration, growth and economic strength tothe communities it builds. The desire to form GAD was a result of the 2015 wildfires in Lake County, CA that devastated businesses and left many residents homeless and to assist other areas that have experienced such devastation to their communities. By combining near-term economic viability with a long-term plan that is sensitive to the region, its changing demographic, and an underlying atmosphere of delicate environmental care, GAD has combined forces with industry experts to successfully turn the tragically scorched earth into a lush, vibrant and charming place where people will live, work and play. We are excited to expand our business to the South Bay in creating affordable residential options that demonstrate how residential, commercial, and recreational sustainable developments can create synergy and quality of life in a specific location.
