INTRODUCTION

• Light Emitting Polymer(LEP) is also called as

Organic Light Emitting Diode(OLED).• Different stages in display technology:

What is an OLED?• It is a polymer that emits light when voltage is

applied to it. • Polymers with metallic and semiconductor

characteristics are used in LEPs• Band gap of that material is 2.2 to 2.8 ev

Manufacturing

LEPs are manufactured in 2 ways.

1) Spin coating method :

Advantages

• Low cost• Low power consumption• No viewing angle dependence• Better power efficiency• Less response time• Slimmer• Good for eyes• Self luminous• durability

Disadvantages

• Life span• Efficiency of blue OLEDs• Water damage• UV sensitivity

Conclusion

• OLEDs offer many advantages over both LEDs and LCDs.

• They are thinner, lighter and more flexible than the crystalline layers in an LED or LCD.

• They have large fields of view as they produce their own light.

• LEP technology is now set to change the products we use to view the world
