Silver Anniversary shows are classical ‘Gold’!!MOSCOW City Ballet celebrates its Silver Anniversary by visiting Hanley’s Regent Theatre for the first time in November.
Currently at its oustanding, artistic best, winning new invitations to perform internationally, MSB will be performing two of its most famous, best-loved classical ballets, ‘Swan Lake’ and ‘The Nutcracker’.
‘Swan Lake’ is presented in all its original splendour by some of the world’s finest dancers. The epic story of Prince Siegfried and his love for Odette, who, tricked by the evil sorcerer, Von Rothbart, and his daughter, Odile, would rather die than
live apart, is performed beautifully to the familiar score by Pyotr Ilych Tchaikovsky
(1840-93), played live by the Moscow City Ballet Orchestra.
Timeless classic, ‘The Nutcracker’, is offered, complete with stunning costumes, sets and, of course, Tchaikovsky’s masterpiece of a score.
This enchanting ballet tells the story of Clara’s magical adventure with her Nutcracker Prince, including a visit to the delicious Land of Sweets and the delightful Sugar Plum Fairy, and is a real festive treat.
Founded in 1988 by Victor Smirnov-Golovanov, who, sadly, died in April this year after a long struggle with cancer, Moscow City Ballet remains in the safe hands of his devoted wife, Ludmila Neroubashchenko, who
has been the leading ballet company for the last, few years.
She will now officially take on the position of Artistic Director, and will continue to preserve Victor’s unique choreography and productions, as well as the commitment to promoting ballet in the Russian Classical tradition throughout the world.
Two performances of ‘Swan Lake’ will take place, the first on Tuesday, November 26th, and the second on Wednesday, November 27th, both at 7.30pm.
There will also be two performances of ‘The Nutcracker’, both taking place on Thursday, November 28th (one at 2.30pm and the second at 7.30pm).Tickets are now in available in person from The Regent Theatre Box Office by calling 0844 871 7649 or visiting www.atgtickets.com/stoke
