The Master of Arts in Human Behavior is designed for people desiringgreater knowledge of the behavioral sciences. The degree exposes thestudent to a wide array of behavioral topics covering personal, social andorganizational issues. The program is intended for students who havespecific ambitions in the fields of supervision, management, andadministration, but should also appeal to students undergoing lifetransitions, seeking personal or career growth, or requiring preparation fordoctoral-level training.
Program Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:• Synthesize and apply communication theory and practice in real-world
situations. • Develop a personal and professional code of ethics based on knowledge
and understanding of moral and ethical principles and values. • Assimilate adult development and human sexuality theories and
principles into personal and interpersonal growth. • Analyze and apply behavioral and organizational change processes to
personal, social, and organizational settings. • Integrate theories of leadership into applied areas of supervision,
management, and administration. • Demonstrate practical competence in the use of behavioral theory,
research and assessment. • Produce written materials (papers, essays, projects, journals, etc.) that

Degree Requirements(12 courses; 54 quarter units)
To receive the Master of Arts in Human Behavior, students must complete atleast 54 quarter units of graduate work. A total of 13.5 quarter units ofgraduate credit may be granted for equivalent graduate work completed atanother institution, as it applies to this degree and provided the units werenot used in earning another advanced degree. Students should refer to thesection on graduate admission requirements for specific informationregarding application and evaluation.
For students in the Bachelor of Science in Organizational Behavior transitionprogram, the university will waive up to two MA in Human Behaviorcourses taken as part of the bachelor’s degree (see BS in OrganizationalBehavior transition program), but these students must still meet theresidency requirements for the MA in Human Behavior. The number ofcourses waived is dependent on the courses taken and grades earned in thetransition program.

The five-course sequence in applied behavior analysis is designed toprepare candidates for the national certification examinations sponsored bythe Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB). Upon successfulcompletion of National University’s five course sequence, the candidate willreceive a certificate of completion from National University, but this is notprofessional certification by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board(BACB) and does not entitle candidates to claim they are Board CertifiedBehavior Analysts (BCBA’s). Certificate Requirements
Prior to qualifying to take the National Board Certified Behavior Analystexam, candidates must do 1500 hours of Supervised Fieldwork, which issupervised by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). NationalUniversity does not provide this supervision.

Behavioral Health Works, Inc. will be partnering with National University to o�er BHW sta� members the opportunity to pursue a master’s degree with emphasis in Applied Behavior Analysis and/or certi�cation as a Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or Behavior Analyst Assistant (BCaBA) through convenient courses led by internal sta� members who are also employed as Adjunct Professors of National University. The required courses will be taught in the BHW clinic and employees can earn BCBA hours while working in the �eld.
