Organische StoffverbindungenOrganic bonding of substances
• The organic chemistry comprises all carbon bodnings with the exception of the hydrogen free chalkogenides (e. g. carbon monoxid, carbon dioxid and carbon disulfide) and their bondings (carbonic acid, carbonate), as well as carbide and metal carbonyles.
• Biologically degradable organci substances serve as nutrients for micro organisms (bacteria, fungi...). For energy extraction the organic substances are converted under oxygen consumption.
• Too many organic substances in the water lead to increased growth of micro organisms and oxygen lacking setting in the water.

2. For the oxidation of organic dissolved matter the sample is boiled two hours at 148°C (= boiling temperature) with reflow.

3. Remaining oxidant is determined with Fe2+-ionic (Re-Titration). After cooling down the quantity of oxidateddichromates can be calculated. The result gives the COD in mgO2/l.
