Aggregate Score
What is the PSLE Aggregate Score?
It is a sum of the T-Score (Transformed Score) of the
4 subjects
14
What is the T-Score for each subject?
15
If Pam scores 85% for English and Science, does it mean that she has done equally well for the 2
subjects?
• It depends on how all the other pupils in the cohort fared.
• If the average marks for : English is 80%; andScience is 55%
Hence there is a need to standardize the raw scores to take into account the relative performance of the cohort.
This is the T-Score
What is the T-Score for each subject? The RAW marks are transformed into the T-score based on a formula using :
• Raw marks, • Mean • Standard Deviation
16
What is the T-Score for each subject? What is “MEAN” ?
• The MEAN is the average marks scored by all P6 pupils for a particular subject
17
What is the T-Score for each subject?
What is the “STANDARD DEVIATION”
◦ It refers to how spread out the marks of all the pupils are

SUBJECT A SUBJECT B
What is the T-Score for each subject? How is the T-Score calculated?
19
T = 50 + 10 ( X – Y )Z
Where X: Pupil’s mark for the subjectY: Average mark (mean) scored by all pupilsZ: Spread of marks around the average mark (Standard Deviation)
What is the T-Score for each subject?
EXAMPLEPupil’s mark (X) in exam = 50Average mark (Y) scored byall pupils = 68Spread of marks (Z) aroundthe average mark (Y) = 14
T = 50 + 10 (50 – 68) = 37.1414

Information on 2015 Direct School Admission –
Secondary (DSA-Sec) Exercise
Direct School Admission (DSA)Information Leaflet issued to all PUPILS in April 2015
29
What is DSA–Sec Exercise? • Introduced in 2004• Participating schools are given greater flexibility
in selecting students. • They will be able to select a percentage of
their students for admission outside of the centralised posting system, via their own admission criteria, which may include academic and non-academic achievements and talents.
• Provides students the opportunity to demonstrate a more diverse range of achievements and talents in seeking admission to participating schools.
• The DSA-Sec Exercise is NOT a centralised posting exercise.
• It is an admission exercise to allow participating secondary schools to select some P6 students for admission to Secondary One (S1) based on their achievements and talents before the PSLE results are released.
• Students successfully allocated to their DSA-Sec schools will NOT be allowed to participate in the annual S1 Posting Exercise to opt for secondary schools and will NOT be allowed to transfer to another school after the release of the PSLE results.
• Successful DSA students are expected to honour their commitments to their posted DSA schools for the duration of the programme that they are admitted into.
